Job Purpose
As a Lead SCADA / Telecommunication / EMS Engineer, you will lead and manage the design and consultancy of SCADA, EMS, telecommunications, and cybersecurity systems for HV/MV substations, power plants, and renewable energy facilities. This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise and leadership to deliver high-quality engineering deliverables aligned with international standards, client specifications, and DAR Engineering’s internal quality protocols.
You will provide technical direction across multidisciplinary design teams and play a critical role in documentation, specifications, tender support, and technical presentations.
Key Responsibilties- Lead the conceptual and detailed design of SCADA, EMS, ADMS, DERMS, PMS, and telecom systems.
- Deliver design packages: block diagrams, communication architectures, fiber routing plans, and BOQs.
- Ensure compliance with IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, ICCP, NERC-CIP, IEC 62351, and regional utility standards.
- Integrate SCADA/telecom into Substation Automation Systems (SAS) and plant control architectures.
- understanding EMS applications: load forecasting, AGC, power flow simulation, etc.
- Design and validate ADMS functions including FLISR, VVO, OMS, and DERMS integration.
- Develop secure telecom infrastructure: fiber MPLS, PTP/NTP sync, firewall configurations.
- Align with CIM (IEC 61970/61968) for system interoperability.
- Participate in design reviews, client workshops, and bid/tender support.
- Supervise deliverables, mentor junior engineers, and ensure internal QA standards.
- Bachelor’s in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- Above ten years in SCADA/EMS/ADMS/Telecom/SAS design and consultancy.
- Strong knowledge of grid automation, control center design, and industrial cybersecurity.
- Experience with platforms like GE, Siemens, Schneider, ABB, Indra, etc.
- Familiarity with IEC 61850, Modbus, DNP3, IEC 104, ICCP, and CIM standards.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and client interface skills.
- Certifications (e.g., PE, PMP) are a plus.
