Job Summary:

The Field Service Engineer (FSE) position provides external technical support for the OEM and customer teams to manage all aspects of GSE and tooling product offerings. This includes product development, design improvements, customer training and onsite tech support. This individual will work with cross-functional teams to develop and execute complex technical projects both externally and internally with our internal manufacturing capabilities, supply chain, and customer-facing sales teams.


The FSE uses all technical documents, established processes and first-hand experience to recommend, train, repair, maintain, upgrade, install, and troubleshoot specialized electrical hydro-mechanical products in a fast paced global customer setting.





Key Responsibilities:

  • Resolution to provide an optimum customer experience by ensuring 100% operational products and reliability.
  • Lead and conduct the management and implementation of new product installations, commissioning, including the upgrade or modification of existing product installations at customer sites.
  • Resolve customer GSE and tooling technical related questions using blueprints and specifications by technical interpretation.
  • Technical support activities will be related to tool training and usage, engine application, operation, maintenance and storage of tools in alignment with the OEM databases and supporting Engine Manuals and other technical documents.
  • Understand, articulate, and provide proper usage training to customers at the customers installation site.
  • Review technical documents including tool drawings, electrical and/or hydraulic schematics, parts lists, and technical instructions for design/manufacturing/installation and product operation problems when an issue arises. Disassemble tooling and equipment, identify required modifications, manage logistics associated with modifications, upgrade, repairs, tests, etc.
  • Provide trouble shooting expertise alongside customers to assist team in identifying root cause and corrective actions for design, manufacturing, electronic, software, or hydromechanical issues.
  • Support/Influence new product development and product design improvements within the OEM SEE and CTP Organizations.
  • Travel to support customer projects and sales campaigns, evaluate and setup facilities and conduct other customer needed services, including but not limited to GSE and tooling training.
  • Oversee product configuration management process to ensure consistency of product’s performance and alignment to its design and intended use.
  • Participate as a key team member in product strategy development to recommend technical solutions to grow and capture market share.
  • Working with cross functional teams, managing specific projects, products, and services in assigned region/GSE product line/engine program.
  • Perform other duties and specific projects as assigned.



Qualifications and Experience:

  • Demonstrated ability to both lead and be led by others in an entrepreneurial and customer centric environment.
  • Be able to demonstrate in-depth working knowledge or equivalent experience of complex GSE and tooling for GE/CFM/RR advanced tooling and equipment applications onsite at customers related to modifications, upgrades, repairs, calibrations, training, product familiarization and effective troubleshooting to resolve issues on complex equipment.
  • Must be able to read and interpret all OEM tooling blueprints and specifications.
  • Read, understand and translate into current configuration, all OEM requirements for Airframe OEM and Gas Turbine Engine OEM Technical and Maintenance publications, service bulletins, drawings, models and process sheets.
  • 4-year technical degree, and/or 15+ years of equivalent aviation related experience preferred.
  • Travel up to 50+% per year to support customers and products.
  • Experience in fast paced customer facing roles, requiring advanced skills in electrical, hydro mechanical, assembly, disassembly, testing, and operating complex specialized equipment specific to the aviation industry.
  • Experience with MS-Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, Teams). ERP systems (Epicor) is a plus.
  • Be able to work independently and lead problem solving teams when necessary.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Be able to demonstrate good problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in accurately communicating customer needs to ensure operational excellence.
  • Strong customer service attitude and aptitude.
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.
