Job Summary:
The Crane Operator is responsible for operating and controlling cranes to lift, move, and position heavy materials at construction sites, ports, or other industrial locations. The role requires skill, precision, and an understanding of safety protocols to ensure the safe and efficient operation of crane equipment. The operator should have a valid heavy driving license and be capable of operating a basket (man lift) when required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Crane Operation: Operate various types of cranes (e.g., mobile, tower, overhead) to move heavy materials and equipment across the site as directed by supervisors.
- Load Handling: Ensure that all loads are safely and securely attached before lifting, and ensure the proper weight limits are adhered to.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines, company policies, and industry standards while operating cranes. Conduct safety checks before and during crane operation to ensure the equipment is in proper working order.
- Inspection & Maintenance: Regularly inspect crane equipment for signs of wear or damage. Perform routine maintenance and report any issues to maintenance personnel for repair.
- Site Coordination: Work closely with ground crew, riggers, and supervisors to ensure the smooth and safe movement of materials. Communicate effectively to ensure loads are lifted and placed in the correct position.
- Emergency Response: Respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations, including potential equipment malfunctions or safety hazards, to minimize downtime and ensure site safety.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of crane operations, including hours worked, materials moved, and any safety incidents or maintenance performed.
- Training & Certification: Participate in ongoing training programs and maintain up-to-date certifications as required by local regulations and company standards.
- Adhere to Site-Specific Procedures: Follow specific site instructions and protocols to ensure operations are conducted safely and in accordance with project requirements.
- Traffic Safety: Be aware of Aramco road traffic safety regulations and adhere to speed limits.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification or training in crane operation is required.
- Experience: Previous experience operating cranes, with a minimum of years of experience in construction, shipping, or industrial environments.
- License: Must have a valid heavy driving license and experience in operating basket lifts (man lifts).
Skills:
- Proficient in operating various types of cranes (e.g., tower, mobile, overhead).
- Strong knowledge of load limits, rigging, and safety procedures.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to perform routine crane maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Capability to operate man lifts and follow safety protocols.
