Assembly Technician - Mechanical

A Snapshot of Your Day

In this role, you will be responsible for the mechanical assembly, packaging, and testing of gas turbines and compressors for various industries, ensuring high-quality standards are met on time and within budget. You will collaborate within a cross-functional team, taking ownership of your daily activities while utilizing specialized tools to assemble large systems, often exceeding 200,000 kg. Your commitment to quality and attention to detail will be essential as you maintain accurate records and support the upkeep of packaging and production equipment.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Perform mechanical activities related to the assembly, packaging, and testing of gas turbines and compressors for power generation, oil & gas, petrochemical, and related industries.
• Collaborate within a cross-functional matrix organization to consistently achieve high-quality standards, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Participate in fostering a culture of teamwork, excellence, and inclusiveness among team members.
• Conduct mechanical assembly of packaged systems, including large electric motors, turbo compressors, gearboxes, lube oil systems, seal gas panels, and other components, often handling items weighing over 200,000 kg.
• Take ownership of planning daily activities, understand and follow assembly documents and instructions, and utilize specialized assembly tools effectively.
• Ensure accurate quality record information is available for management and quality teams, check equipment and consumables for daily assembly needs, and support the maintenance of packaging and production equipment.
  
  
  

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies, with a master’s degree considered a plus, and a minimum of 7-10 years of Qualification in an applicable packaging production and engineering field from an accredited university or college, with demonstrable knowledge of assembly and packaging activities for rotating equipment, including recent hands-on experience.
• Proficient in pipework and structural welding, electrical cable, tray and conduit system assembly, as well as tubing and instrument systems assembly.
• Experienced in the assembly, alignment, and cleanliness of critical components, with knowledge of painting systems.
• Field service experience in maintaining gas turbine or compressor packages is an advantage, along with familiarity with industry best practices and applicable international standards.
• Working knowledge of MS Office is a strong benefit, with fluency in English and a preference for Arabic; individual proactive performer with strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Takes ownership and responsibility for actions, demonstrating reliability, honesty, a strong curiosity to learn and develop, and a focus on quality.
