Ventures Associate

We're looking for an energetic and curious new team member who's ready to tackle the challenges of a fast-paced startup environment. Maybe you've just graduated, or you have some experience working or interning at a startup or dynamic company. You should be excited by the idea of innovation and translating it into near-flawless executions, willing to take on a variety of tasks, and keen to learn about everything from how to validate a business idea, the basics of budgeting and planning, to the fundamentals of M&A and corporate investments.

Studio Pipeline Management, Probing & Qualification:

• Assist GIL’s team to continuously probe and build pipelines of successful ventures through a wide array of inputs.

• Assist in streamlining the process for tracking, evaluating, and nurturing ventures, ensuring efficient resource allocation and timeline adherence.

• Build relationships with internal stakeholders from BG companies (Goody, SFS, BTC) to ensure keeping abreast with strategic fitness 

• of ventures to the wider group.

• Own the reporting mechanism of Venture studio opportunities & performance on the agreed upon cadence.

Investment Opportunity Screening and Qualification:

• Attend pitch events for our portfolio, meet entrepreneurs, industry partners and build relationships within the ecosystem to best help accelerate the growth of our portfolio ventures and identify new investment opportunities.

• Perform market research to help identify new investment trends and targeted M&A opportunities.

• Deal screening: call and/or meet with prospects, perform due diligence on their deal rooms, evaluate opportunities.

• Build relationships with peers in other Venture Capital Firms, entrepreneurs and other industry professionals. 

• Preparing market analysis and presentations to drive investment decisions for engagement with the firm’s extensive network of corporate relationships.

• Support in all fields of portfolio management, such as business and financial plan validation, tracking of key metrics and reporting.

• Own the reporting mechanism of M&A opportunities & performance on the agreed upon cadence.

Product Management & Venture Building:

• During MVP or in later stages, assisting the venture leads and GIL’s team in on-ground execution and product management tasks.

• Assisting the venture lead in the continuous product enhancement lifecycle and improvement (tech or non-tech).

• Collaborating and leading the wider startup team to execute the development strategy, including tech, marketing, operations and any on-ground execution team, with focus on kaizen and results delivery.

• Help the venture leads in the portfolio build a fast MVP, achieve a quick PMF, and transition into a structured org.

Public Programs Management, and Continuous Improvement:

• Assist the GIL team to Initiate, design and launch public events for the venture studio in collaboration with accelerators and public entities to amplify GIL’s visibility, scale its pipeline and partnerships, and foster community engagement.

• Continuously benchmark our governance and standards as well as output, with local and global corporate venture capitalists and accelerators, with the objective of putting GIL as a leading F&B innovator regionally, while attracting a global pipeline 

for GCC market entry.

Job Requirements

• Bsc. In Management, Finance, Marketing, Engineering or related disciplines Education

• 0-2 years of Investment, Project Management or Entrepreneurial experience (VC/PE, investment banking, Startups, Incubators or Accelerators)

• Good understanding of business models, strategy and growth drivers.. etc Experience

• Outstanding analytical skills, detail-oriented, proactive, entrepreneurial, and self-motivated

• Strong knowledge of Excel including advanced function

• Ability to produce well designed professional looking business documents or PowerPoint presentations

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Structured and well-organized work approach Skills

• English (mandatory)

• Arabic (mandatory) Languages
