Global Trade Controls Specialist

Introduction

Boeing’s Global Trade Controls Function (GTC) has an exciting opportunity for a Trade Controls Specialist (TCS) based in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) reporting to the GTC Senior Manager for the Middle East Region.

Providing primary support to the Boeing Saudi Arabia business (BSA) and other Boeing business interests in KSA, the successful candidate will also provide trade compliance support to colleagues in the wider Middle East region. Some regional or international travel may be required.

This position is key to developing strong business partner relationships and providing tailored trade controls solutions to help enable business success in a timely and compliant manner.

The ideal candidate will have proven operational experience in trade controls, including a working knowledge of KSA Customs’ regulations for importing and exporting products and technology. They will also be able to work on their own initiative as part of a geographically dispersed team and to team effectively with business partners.

Position Responsibilities

  • Work closely with key stakeholders at all levels to understand business strategies and objectives.

  • Plan and execute innovative compliant solutions to help enable business success

  • Support the BSA Import/Export team to help ensure compliant transactions, including broker management, jurisdiction and classification reviews and performing necessary due diligence

  • Implement and maintain a cohesive trade compliance infrastructure within BSA, including user friendly processes, compliance monitoring and training - applying consistency and rigor to execution

  • Partner with in-country regulators to help promote a rationalized trade control environment beneficial to Boeing

  • Provide support to Boeing JVs and partner companies, as required

  • Identify and highlight trade compliance risks and participate in enterprise and/or external Compliance Risk Management reviews

  • Support enterprise level investigations and contribute to establishing, implementing and reviewing appropriate corrective actions

  • Attend relevant business meetings as the GTC ambassador, advising the BSA Leadership and Program and Function teams accordingly

  • Provide proactive support to the GTC Senior Manager and colleagues relating to workload management and prioritization of tasks

  • Maintain effective communication with GTC colleagues in the U.S. responsible for the respective defense programs in KSA

  • Flexibility to attend virtual meetings in other international timezones

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years proven operational experience of applying regional trade control and/or customs regulations.

  • A working knowledge of the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

  • Fluency in English and Arabic (read, written, and spoken)

  • Experience in presenting/delivering training

  • Proficient in appropriate computing skills

  • High ethical standards and the ability to self-motivate

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Project Management Experience

  • Bachelor's degree

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience. Whilst advanced education is desirable, proven experience in understanding and applying trade controls is essential.

Relocation:

This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
