Senior Mechanical Engineer

Responsible for management of a project from award until delivery and handing over. He handles the estimation, concept issuance and review and tendering stage, technical management and coordination, site management of MEP works.
Main Accountabilities:
Conduct audit, & detailed analysis of produced drawings by MEP teams at all project stages
Able to perform engineering design of mechanical systems.
Red flag potential risks and threats to project cost, time or quality and propose corrective actions/solutions.
Propose viable alternative & courses of actions or materials during estimation or execution stage.
Be present at the concept architect premises, input MEP systems’ design and feed estimation.
Examine & technical review of received bids including proposed specifications & drawings
Produce method statement, and other types of manuals.
Lead project technical aspects to successful and qualitative completion
Responsible to produce concept drawings, performance specifications sufficient enough to estimate project costs.
Establish the right site supervision audit procedures along with testing and commissioning.
Control design development & construction works of all ongoing projects
Perform high level of detailing for high end construction, & coordinated shop drawings ready for execution.
Provide support to the different Project Managers and transfer them the necessary knowledge and know how needed for successful completion of their projects in hand.
Provide support and participate in tendering in major projects, providing the necessary input

As input at tender stage or to meet the consultant’s requirement.
Timely alerting, foreseeing problem and finding the right solutions.
Alternatives either more economical or meeting time yet design compliant.
Briefing estimation team the required information for accurate estimation.
To engage on secure basis, after analyzing bid documents.
Meeting budget and time
Level of details meeting standard construction & engineering practice
Sufficient enough to define the required scope.
To make sure design, quality benchmarks and time are all met.
to meet deadline and quality benchmarks w/o jeopardizing cost.
To achieve sustainable details, meeting the design intent.
Guaranteeing a consistent output throughout projects
Method statements, Engineering Management, communication with subcontractors, etc.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Degree, more than 12 years experience, out of which 8 years in contracting and a minimum of 3 years in Engineering/Design.
Technical Skills and Experience:
At least 10 years in construction industry, mainly in major building (retail/malls/etc.) projects
Advanced English.
Other mechanical design software.
Proficient in Autocad, Excel, and Planning software.
Experience in Saudi market technical practice and materials is a plus.

Knowhow in all MEP discipline, previous HVAC & plumbing design

Lack of sense of urgency.
Previous owner rep or maintenance experience exceeding 25% of the total experience .
Communications:
Internal: the rest of the departments, and report into Technical Manager.
External: Service providers, contractors, suppliers and design architect.
Working Conditions:
Normally 5.5 days a week at head office; during projects, same as all positions, the MEP manager will be required to attend fast track projects which require 7 days’ weekly attendance.
Position requires 6 months presence in GCC, and 6 months in Lebanon (different salary scale); this may vary according to project requirements.
