Job Title Senior Engineer, Early Study

Job Purpose

The primary role of Senior Engineer, Early Study is responsible for supporting technical studies of new projects at early stage in Open Pit Mining Engineering area.

The Senior Engineer, Early Study will support Manager Mine, Early Study in effectively coordinate and support Strategy and Business Development on development of Stage Gate 0, 1, and 2 for Open Pit Mines Studies. The role performs sophisticated engineering duties to support MBMNM Stage Gate 0, 1, and 2 for Open Pit Mines Studies. It encompasses a range of engineering and technical activities, involving some or all of the steps from identifying substantial technical problems and opportunities; through devising engineering approaches, processes and plans to resolve them; to researching, rationalizing, acquiring and assembling the resources to implement the plans.

With experience preferably gained at operational sites and in project roles, this role will be expected to become Open Pit Mining Engineering SME’s and effectively managing interaction with the Technical Services & Continuous Improvement (TCI), Studies & Project Development (SPD), Mineral Resources Management (MRM), and others to deliver successful study outcomes. The role will interact closely with Consultant, Contractor, MBMNM and corporate management teams.

Key Accountabilities

Technical support

• Provide technical support to all assigned project and track progress to ensure objectives and activities are achieved with best quality.
• Support Strategy and Business Development on development of Stage Gate 0, 1 and 2 for Open Pit Mines Studies in order to optimize the development of MBMNM deposit and support MBMNM Strategy and Growth to produce 1.6 Mozs Gold in 2035.
• The role will interact closely with Consultant, Contractor, and MBMNM teams.
• The role performs sophisticated engineering duties to support MBMNM Stage Gate 0, 1 and 2 for Open Pit Mines Studies. It encompasses a range of engineering and technical activities, involving some or all of the steps from identifying substantial technical problems and opportunities; through devising engineering approaches, processes and plans to resolve them; to researching, rationalizing, acquiring and assembling the resources to implement the plans.
• As Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Open Pit Mine Engineering and support Strategy and Business Development on development of Stage Gate 0, 1 and 2 for Open Pit Mines Studies.
• Support on develop and optimize project opportunities in line with the Ma’aden Stage Gate System delivering exceptional value to stakeholders.
• Work with internal SME and consultant resources.
• Work with consultant on trade off studies for the projects
• Work with Strategy and Business Development to effectively deliver study outcomes within the schedule and budget constraint
• Ensure compliance to Ma’aden procedures and processes.
• Coordinate with Strategy and Business Development to develop Ma’aden Stage Gate deliverables for the study stages
• Provide regular updates to the Manager Mine, Early Study for the project progress.
• Attend weekly meetings for the Stage Gate 0, 1 and 2 for Open Pit Mines Studies.
• Proactive in development and optimize of Open Pit Mines Studies to get the best profit margin for MBMNM.
• Ensure risk and opportunity identification is undertaken during the design phases, risk and opportunity register is maintained and control closeout actions have been undertaken and incorporated into the design or other controls.
• Support Manager Mine, Early Study in order to optimize the multi-mine Ma’aden Base Metals and New Mineral (MBMNM) assets that are already operating spread across Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
• Mentor other engineers and reviewing planning and design proposals.
• Ensuring compliance with company and site-specific policies, standards, procedures, and objectives and recommend new policies or procedures, if necessary.
• Support in interpretation of the Ma'aden standards and support affiliates in the development and improvement of local systems and support the Corporate Subject Matter Expert team
• Perform all additional duties assigned by superiors.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications, Experience And Competencies

 8+ years of experience in relevant role within mining technical experience such as Ore Reserve, Strategic Planning, Mine Planning, Drill and Blast, Mine Operation, Projects, and Studies (Scoping, Preliminary Feasibility Study, and Feasibility Study)

 Technical knowledge in Mine technical Role disciplines: Ore Reserve, Strategic Planning, Mine Planning-Geotechnical-Drill and Blast, Mine economics

 Extensive expertise in Open Pit mining operations and Project-Studies (Scoping, Preliminary Feasibility Study, and Feasibility Study)

 Strong financial & budgeting skills

 Familiarity with the Saudi Arabia mining sector.

 Relevant knowledge in mineral licensing, monitoring, and compliance.

Skills

• Experience in Open pit Mine Planning, Ore Reserve, Studies, and Project.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in mine engineering, operations, projects, and studies. Experience in gold and base metal extraction processes is a plus
• Experience in Planning process in large organizations, ideally in Open Pit Mine Engineering area.
• Considerable experience in Ore Reserve, mine planning, optimization, operations, projects, studies and strategic planning in large and diversified mine sites, with experience in conventional hard rock Gold / Copper-Gold operations is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to influence and impact in a dynamic, multitasking environment with competing priorities and high level of cultural awareness and sensitivity. Must be able to work in a collaborative environment and share standard methodologies across Ma’aden Base Metals and New Minerals (MBMNM).
• Critical work values include flexibility and adaptability, collaboration with others and the ability to plan and deliver work results with quality, accuracy, punctuality and reliability
• Ability to build and maintain a strong communications network with Mine Engineering peers, Technical Services & Continuous Improvement, Project/Study, Operation, Consultants, and others relevant parties.
• Experience in operations with sophisticated multi mine, multi process situations preferable and highly talented knowledge of mine methods, mine design, production scheduling (strategic and tactical), equipment selection, projects, studies, reserve estimation, continuous improvement and others relevant task.
• High level of competence in the use of mine planning software, including optimal techniques and cash flow analysis and extensive experience with mine design and scheduling packages. Experience in Mine Sight, Geovia Whittle, Surpac, and Minesched, is a plus;
• Detailed knowledge of unit costing for resource and reserve analysis and experienced in financial analysis and models. Experience with Xeras cost estimating is a plus.
• Strong problem solving and 3D visualization skills.
• Relevant certificates of competency – certification as Professional Engineer, and/or Qualified-Competent Person status.
• Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access) required
