Job Purpose / Objective:
The QC Technician is responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of ship engine components and tools through precise measurement, calibration, and traceability. This role involves performing mechanical dimensional checks, non-destructive testing and inspections, maintaining calibration records, and ensuring all components meet the required specifications and standards.
Key Accountabilities:
Measurement and Inspection
•Perform accurate measurements of components and tools using appropriate instruments.
•Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) including dye penetrant, magnetoscopic, and ultrasonic inspections.
Tool Calibration
•Calibrate measurement tools and equipment regularly to ensure accuracy.
•Maintain calibration records and ensure tools are traceable to all standards.
Traceability and Documentation
•Maintain traceability of components and tools throughout the production process.
•Document inspection and calibration results accurately and promptly.
Quality Assurance
•Ensure all components and tools meet specified quality standards and requirements.
•Identify and report any non-conformities or defects in materials or processes.
Compliance and Standards
•Adhere to industry standards and company quality policies.
•Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices in quality control.
Continuous Improvement
•Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality processes and outcomes.
•Provide feedback and suggestions to improve measurement and inspection procedures.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in quality control, preferably in the ship engine manufacturing industry or a similar field.
- Certifications in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), including:
1. Dye Penetrant Testing
2. Magnetoscopic Inspection
3. Ultrasonic Inspection
- Proficiency in English and Arabic preferred.
Competencies:
Technical Competencies:
• Proficient in using measurement instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Skilled in conducting non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques.
• Knowledge of calibration procedures and maintaining calibration records.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Familiarity with industry standards and quality assurance practices.
