Procurement Engineer

Job Overview:

The Procurement Engineer is responsible for managing the procurement process for technical and engineering materials, equipment, and services. This role involves sourcing and selecting suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that procurement activities align with project requirements, budget constraints, and quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background and excellent negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on technical and commercial criteria. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and services.
• Procurement Planning: Collaborate with engineering and project teams to understand their needs and specifications. Develop procurement plans and strategies to meet project requirements and deadlines.
• Contract Negotiation: Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers, including pricing, delivery schedules, and quality standards. Prepare and manage procurement contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
• Technical Evaluation: Assess technical proposals and specifications from suppliers. Ensure that procured items meet the required technical standards and performance criteria.
• Cost Management: Monitor and control procurement costs to stay within budget. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to achieve cost efficiency.
• Quality Assurance: Oversee the inspection and testing of materials and equipment to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. Address any issues related to quality or performance with suppliers.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier correspondence. Prepare and present regular reports on procurement performance and project status.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements throughout the procurement process.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Proven experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably within an engineering or technical environment.
• Strong understanding of technical specifications and engineering materials.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office NetSuite.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
