Description
The Laqtom lab belongs to the Division of Biological and Engineering and Environmental (BESE) (www.bese.kaust.edu.sa). Dr. Nouf Laqtom is also a member of the Genetic and Metabolic Diseases core group in Smart Health Initiative (www.smarthealth.kaust.edu.sa). The core group of Genetic and Metabolic Diseases aims to understand and treat complex genetic and metabolic diseases. Our lab studies the molecular and biochemical basis of organellar genes-associated with metabolic disorders such as lysosomal storage diseases by analyzing the component “proteome and metabolome” of these organelles at a fine resolution. We work in an excellent interdisciplinary environment where experimentalists work closely with computational experts and specialists in multi-omics technologies. For more information about the Laqtom lab, visit our website (www.laqtomlab.com).
We are currently seeking highly motivated, independent, and team-oriented postdoctoral fellows to join the subcellular metabolism lab of Dr. Nouf Laqtom. As a recent lab, we are in the process of being fully set up and equipped with instrumentation enabling the performance of tissue culture BSL2 , molecular techniques, biochemical assays, and animal procedures.Additionally, we have full access to the core lab facilities of KAUST, offering cutting-edge instrumentations for mass spectrometry of proteomics, lipidomics, metabolomics, and isotopic tracing analysis. All these mass spectrometric platforms and more can be found at one location. Moreover, FACS, confocal imaging, sequencing, and radiation labeling core facilities are available.
The post comes with a generous support package and a competitive salary. The preferred starting date is in early winter 2023. For further details about the position, please contact Nouf.
