Job Summary:


The Packaging & Shelf-Life Specialist is responsible for improving packaging design, testing, and qualification with the goal of extending product shelf-life, ensuring sustainability, and maintaining compliance with international regulatory standards. The role focuses on optimizing packaging functionality and cost-efficiency while safeguarding food safety, product quality, and consumer satisfaction.


Operational Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Design, test, and validate packaging solutions that extend shelf-life without compromising product quality.
  • Conduct accelerated shelf-life studies in collaboration with QA and R&D teams.
  • Optimize material selection to balance cost, durability, and environmental impact.
  • Approve packaging specifications, labels, and artwork, ensuring compliance with global food labeling standards.
  • Conduct migration, permeability, and compatibility tests to ensure food safety compliance.
  • Work with suppliers to qualify new packaging materials with proven shelf-life performance.
  • Lead packaging trials in transportation, storage, and cold chain conditions.
  • Validate packaging claims (e.g., recyclable, biodegradable, extended shelf-life) against regulatory and scientific standards.
  • Ensure packaging compliance during audits and inspections (HACCP, ISO 22000, BRC, GFSI).


Qualifications:


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Technology, Food Technology, Regulatory Affairs, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3–6 years in packaging development and regulatory compliance within industries such as FMCG, Food, Frozen and Fresh Product etc.
