Your day at NTT DATA

The Manager, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is a seasoned management role, responsible for ensuring the implementation and management of EHS programs and policies within the organization.

This role ensures compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, standards, and best practices, and fosters a culture of safety and environmental stewardship among employees and business stakeholders.

This role provides guidance, support, and coaching to the EHS team and other cross functional teams on EHS matters and fosters a collaborative and innovative team culture focused on achieving operational excellence.

What You'll Be Doing

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the implementation and monitoring of EHS strategy, objectives, and action plans.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable EHS laws, regulations, and standards, and maintain relevant documentation and records.
  • Conducts regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify and eliminate hazards, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Manages and reports on the EHS performance indicators, metrics, and trends, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Provides EHS training, awareness, and communication to employees and stakeholders, and promotes a positive EHS culture.
  • Investigates and responds to EHS incidents, accidents, and emergencies, and ensures proper reporting and follow-up.
  • Oversees the procurement and maintenance of EHS equipment and supplies.
  • Manages, mentors, and evaluates the EHS team, and ensures their professional development and performance.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with internal and external parties on EHS issues and projects.
  • Stay updated on the latest EHS trends, best practices, and innovations, and implements them as appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:

  • Advanced knowledge of EHS laws, regulations, and standards, and ability to interpret and apply them.
  • Skills in EHS auditing, risk assessment, incident investigation, and problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in EHS management systems, tools, and software, such as ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, or EHS Dashboard.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, and ability to work with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team.
  • Strong organizational, and project management skills, and ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • High level of integrity, ethics, and professionalism, and commitment to EHS excellence.
  • Ability to deal with conflict situations.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in a related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant Health, Safety and Environmental certification(s) essential.

Required Experience:

  • Advanced active working experience with environment, health and safety issues in a related industry / environment.
  • Advanced experience dealing with a variety of stakeholders and influencing decision making to manage business risk.
  • Advanced experience dealing with legislators and governing bodies.
  • Advanced knowledge of the EHS laws, regulations, codes, and standards and their application and interpretation.
  • Seasoned experience leading and managing environment, health and safety team(s)/function.
