Job Summary
The Low Current Expert is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and operation of structured cabling systems and low-voltage (LV) infrastructure across enterprise and mission-critical environments. This role provides technical leadership, ensures adherence to international standards, and drives innovation in LV solutions to support ICT, security, and building management systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, planning, and execution of structured cabling and LV infrastructure projects across enterprise environments.
- Oversee the operation and performance of low-current systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, and compliance with international standards.
- Provide subject matter expertise on structured cabling, fiber optics, UPS systems, and security-related LV infrastructure.
- Develop and enforce organizational standards for cabling pathways, labeling, terminations, and testing.
- Review and approve engineering designs, technical specifications, and system layouts for LV projects.
- Conduct advanced troubleshooting and performance optimization of fiber and copper networks.
- Advise on the selection of OEM products, materials, and tools to ensure long-term system sustainability.
- Mentor and guide engineers and managers, building technical expertise within the organization.
- Collaborate with IT, facilities, and security teams to ensure seamless integration of LV systems into enterprise operations.
- Lead quality assurance efforts, including inspections, system audits, and compliance checks.
- Manage vendor and contractor relationships, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and technical requirements.
- Contribute to the strategic planning of infrastructure roadmaps, focusing on scalability, redundancy, and future technologies.
- Ensure compliance with occupational safety standards, codes of practice, and industry guidelines.
- Drive research and adoption of new LV technologies, tools, and best practices.
- Act as the escalation point for complex design or operational challenges in LV infrastructure.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Telecommunications, Electronics, or related discipline (master’s degree is a plus).
- Minimum of 10–12 years of experience in low-current systems, including structured cabling and enterprise-level LV infrastructure.
- Proven expertise in the design and operation of structured cabling systems, including copper and fiber optics.
- Strong experience in overseeing LV works for large-scale projects such as data centers, airports, and enterprise facilities.
- In-depth knowledge of international standards (BICSI, TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC) and ability to enforce compliance across projects.
- Advanced troubleshooting and system optimization skills for both copper and fiber optic networks.
- Strong leadership, mentorship, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent documentation, reporting, and presentation abilities.
- Ability to work in complex, high-demand environments with strict timelines and quality requirements.
- Aviation experience is preferred.
- FOA CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician)
- BICSI RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer)
- Fluke Cable Testing Certification
- Project Management Certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent)
- OEM Training for LV/structured cabling solutions
