We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Legal Director to provide strategic legal counsel and comprehensive support to the Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine organization across the Gulf countries and Saudi Arabia. As a key member of the Leadership Teams of these regions, this role will influence critical business decisions and ensure legal compliance in complex and evolving landscape.

Duties And Responsabilities

  • Manages a variety of critical legal services that have a significant impact on the business and the commercialization of pharmaceutical products within these regions. Provides specialized legal counsel and strategic advice to senior management on a wide range of legal issues.
  • Advises on legal matters and compliance requirements including commercial law, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, corporate law, and competition so that the organization's business policies, practices, and procedures are in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Engages in shaping the external legal and regulatory environment on critical legal policy developments affecting the pharmaceutical sector in the region.
  • Drafts, reviews, negotiates, and finalizes a variety of contracts, ensuring compliance and effective risk management.
  • Manages legal disputes and coordinate litigation matters, working closely with local teams and external counsel.
  • Partners with various teams on strategic projects such as market access initiatives, patient support programs, and digital healthcare solutions, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Collaborates effectively with colleagues across various departments, including regulatory, compliance, and all other operational teams and other support functions to support business goals and uphold legal integrity.
  • Leads training sessions on pertinent legal issues for internal teams, ensuring comprehensive understanding of compliance and legal standards.
  • Integrates Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives into personal goals and decision making.

Education

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Law Degree from a reputable institution; supplementary degree or LLM preferred.

Experience

  • Licensed attorney with at least 10 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Proven experience in providing specialized legal counsel and strategic advice to senior management in a law firm or multinational company in Gulf countries or Saudi Arabia.
  • Prior experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry is highly desirable.

  • Strategic thinker with sound judgement and proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of articulating legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders effectively.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior colleagues in legal practices and compliance requirements.
  • Proven track record of shaping external business environments through proactive legal strategies and stakeholder engagement.
  • Familiarity with emerging legal trends and regulatory changes in the healthcare space.
  • Passionate about upholding high standards of legal and ethical conduct.

Additional Information

Applications should indicate the preferred location (Dubai or Riyadh). Please note that the company will not cover relocation costs for candidates moving from other countries.

Candidates applying for the Riyadh position should be Saudi nationals.

Occasional travel may be required to effectively support all countries within scope.
