Job Purpose
To lead and manage the design, integration activities, including assembly, wiring, testing, and quality checks and engineering of control system panels within the Panel Engineering Department, ensuring compliance with Internal standards, customer specifications, and project requirements. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, cost-effective, and innovative design solutions for control systems, while mentoring the engineering team and driving continuous improvement in design processes and internal tools.

Job Purpose
To lead and manage the design, integration activities, including assembly, wiring, testing, and quality checks and engineering of control system panels within the Panel Engineering Department, ensuring compliance with Internal standards, customer specifications, and project requirements. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, cost-effective, and innovative design solutions for control systems, while mentoring the engineering team and driving continuous improvement in design processes and internal tools.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Design & Engineering
- Design validation of control system panels, ensuring compliance with internal standards, project specifications.
- Typical Design validation of wiring diagrams, and GA/IA, layout drawings.
- Validate and support drafting team for component selection for standardization, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Project lead for panel engineering activities across multiple projects.
- Monitor progress, reporting and resolve design or manufacturing issues proactively. Supervise and coordinate the integration contractors and assembly activities of control panels.
- Coordinate with project managers, procurement, logistics, QA/QC team and production teams to ensure timely delivery.
- Coordinate with the stores in charge to control and track PED material inventory & support PED supervisors in utilizing the existing stock for cost optimization & reduce inventory.
- Collaborate with the project team to resolve technical issues, seek clarifications, and address deviations during integration.
- Collaborate with Vendors for the quality issues in resale items.
- Provide timely support to procurement for technical evaluations, and purchase orders for panel-related materials.
- Supervise and guide subcontractors on panel assembly activities, ensuring quality, adherence to timelines, and optimization of labor hours.
- Coordinate with project team on panel-related technical discussions and requirements.
- Collaborate with QC Engineers for inspections, testing, and handover activities.
- Organize internal meetings and walkthroughs to ensure timely handovers of completed panels.
- Ensure adherence to the project schedule and quality plans, including availability and maintenance of production tools and equipment.
- Identify and document scope deviations, and ensure they are tracked and reported appropriately.
- Prepare summary reports on completed projects for actual cost vs. sales budget.
- Propose and implement techniques to optimize subcontractor man-hours and improve integration efficiency.
- Maintain a record of lessons learned and contribute to knowledge sharing sessions within the PED team.
- Review and approve engineering drawings for manufacturing, approval of BOMs for procurement, and test procedures.
- Ensure compliance with relevant HSE and QA/QC standards during panel assembly and testing.
- Conduct Internal testing, Update Job cards & Traceability and handover panels to project team for Pre-FAT/FAT
- Ensure all designs meet project requirements, comply with internal standard requirements, and customer specific standards.
- Implement risk assessments and mitigation strategies for the design.
- Supervise contractor’s technician and provide technical guidance.
- Conduct training sessions on design tools, standards, and best practices.
- Foster continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
- Serve as the primary technical contact for customer and internal project team regarding panel design.
- Participate in design reviews and clarify technical queries.
- Support proposal team for estimation activities for new projects proposals.
- Monitor panel assembly progress and share weekly status reports with relevant Project Managers and project teams.
- Maintain accurate records of design changes, approvals, and test results.
- Report daily progress and key updates to the Department Manager.
- Manage and maintain PED assets and tools record required for panel assembly and integration
- Degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical, Electronics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8–10 years of experience for candidates with an Engineering Degree, in panel assembly, integration, supervision, knowledge on QA/QC requirements and coordination activities related to various control systems. Experience in procurement, logistics coordination.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under tight deadlines.
- Expertise in design engineering of control panels for industrial automation, control systems, and instrumentation.
- Proficiency in tools and concepts.
- Strong knowledge of international standards, Aramco standards (SAMSS, IEC, ISA) and compliance requirements. (Knowledge of Aramco Standards will be an added advantage)
- Ability to lead design reviews, ensure quality assurance, and manage technical documentation.
- Proactive and self-motivated with a hands-on approach to supervision.
- Strong team player with effective coordination and communication skills.
- Good understanding of panel integration standards, practices, and assembly techniques.
- Basic IT knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
- Familiarity with control panel engineering standards and ability to interpret engineering drawings and documentation.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic project environment.
- Attention to detail in supervising panel layout, wiring, and assembly quality; able to identify integration issues early and contribute to timely, effective resolutions.
