Lead Accountant - Subsidiaries

1. Play a pivotal role in suggesting enhancements and improvements to overall accounting function to ensure:

o Compliance with existing policies and procedures.

o Harmonize procedures wherever applicable.

o Train the chief accountants on specific entities.

o Ensure the consolidation team is receiving accurate information for consolidation.

o Advice specific chief accountants on complex accounting matters in the light of IFRS and applicable framework.

2. Daily management of accounting operations.

3. Maintain and continuously improve period-end closing routine/checklist which should cover (as a minimum) timelines for:

o Capitalization of tools and spares.

o Completion of fixed costs.

o Completion of CO closing / assessment cycle.

o Depreciation Run.

o Completion of Inventory valuation.

o Analysis of trial balance for missing items or anomalies.

o Review ECL provision from AR team.

o Inventory provision from relevant function.

o Legal provision estimates from legal and compliance team.

o Goods in transit.

o Provision of all relevant information to reporting team that is required for consolidation.

o Coordination of period opening and closing with the authorized personnel.

o Suggesting liquidity profile of loans into current and non-current.

o Forex valuation

4. Ensure periodic reconciliation of all clearing nature accounts including (but not limited to):

o Freight clearing accounts.

o GR/IR clearing accounts.

o PS settlement and capitalization.

o Employee advances clearing accounts.

o Supplier advances clearing accounts.

o Petty cash clearing accounts.

o Manpower clearing.

o Salary payable clearing account.

o VAT and other related clearing accounts.

o Any other account of clearing nature

5. Ensure reconciliation of intercompany balances.

6. Participating in internal audits to assess the effectiveness of internal controls within an organization’s financial management system.

7. Participating in external audits to obtain an opinion on financial statements for the period under audit.

8. Facilitate the supply of information to any auditor/attorney and other third party for legal, compliance and audit matters.

9. Effectively apply applicable IFRS for accounting matters and highlight any past or prospective deviation/non-compliance. Further, suggest solutions necessary for compliance. Including but not limited to:

o Leases accounting.

o Property, Plant and Equipment.

o Intangible Assets.

o Financial Instruments.

10. Maintain/prepare accounting position papers for any purpose (audit or otherwise) fully explaining the accounting positions taken and relevant standard/bye laws supporting such position.

11. Participate in improvement of ERP system by identifying inefficiencies and ineffectiveness and engaging support team to resolve these issues.

12. Ensure the financial statements presented by the reporting team represent appropriately all necessary GLs accounts and Cost centres under appropriate financial statement lines and notes.

13. Suggest correct GL and cost centres for a new service.

14. Ensure thorough review of all general ledger accounts and have complete command over the nature and functioning of all general ledger accounts.

15. Any other responsibility that may be assigned as per business requirements or any other item that generally relates to the role.
