Roles And Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage the HSE strategy, policies, and procedures for the project.
- Monitor and ensure the D&B contractor's compliance with HSE standards, regulations, and project-specific requirements.
- Develop the Emergency Response Plan and implement it.
- Develop the project HSSE manual and procedures and assist in development of the Project Execution Plan.
- Perform monthly HSE Self Audits.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Review and approve the contractor's HSE plans, risk assessments, and method statements.
- Provide HSE guidance and support to the project team, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Lead incident investigations and ensure root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented.
- Prepare and present HSE reports, including statistics, trends, and recommendations for improvement.
- Coordinate and conduct HSE training and awareness programs for project personnel and contractors.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and ensure all necessary permits and approvals are obtained and maintained.
- Promote a positive HSE culture and ensure continuous improvement in HSE performance.
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates on HSE matters.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration with the D&B contractor, project team, and stakeholders on HSE issues.
- Assists the Construction / Operations Manager in follow-up of corrective actions.
- Informs Construction / Project Manager of HSE issues to ensure compliance with contractual, legal and other requirements.
- Leads Joint H&S Committee meetings.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certification in HSE (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, CSP) is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 15+ years of experience in HSE management, with a focus on large infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in a PMC environment, acting as a client representative.
- In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Experience in conducting HSE audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Strong understanding of risk assessment and management principles.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and manage multiple stakeholders.
- Experience in the rail or metro industry.
- Familiarity with project management principles and practices.
- Proficiency in using HSE management software and tools.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to influence and drive a positive HSE culture.
