Financial Data Analyst

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Financial Data Analyst / BI Developer to support data-driven decision-making across the finance and business functions. The role focuses on developing robust SQL-based data extraction, building impactful dashboards, and applying financial analysis techniques to track, forecast, and optimize organizational spend. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with financial insight and the ability to communicate complex data in a clear and actionable way.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and maintain SQL queries to extract financial data from multiple sources and systems.
• Design, automate, and deliver recurring and ad-hoc financial reports using Power BI, Tableau, or Excel.
• Ensure data accuracy and integrity through regular validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance checks.
• Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, and Development teams to identify reporting needs, ensure consistency, and improve access to key data points.
• Automate manual reporting processes and build scalable data models to enhance efficiency and reduce errors.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring through structured data reporting and analytics.
• Maintain documentation for data sources, report logic, and data definitions to ensure compliance and transparency.

Financial and Analytical Competencies

Financial Acumen and Accounting Fundamentals:

• Understand the difference between Capital Expenditures (CapEx) and Operational Expenditures (OpEx) to assess the nature of financial transactions and investments.
• Compare budgeted vs. actual expenditures, identifying variances and tracking spending progress.

Advanced Data Analysis Skills:

• Perform trend analysis to identify whether expenses are increasing, seasonal, or irregular.
• Conduct variance analysis to explain the differences between budget forecasts and actual spending.
• Execute drill-down analysis to explore expenditures by item, category, department, or project.
• Design and track custom financial KPIs

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience in financial reporting, business intelligence, or data analysis.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL for data querying, transformation, and performance tuning.
• Proficiency in data visualization tools: Tableau ,Power BI, or advanced Excel.
• Strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting, and cost analysis.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate data into insights.
• Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
