Job Description:

An engineering controller oversees financial and operational aspects within engineering departments, ensuring effective resource management and compliance with regulations.

Job Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in an engineering or project management role.
  • Proficient understanding of engineering principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated capability in site monitoring and project planning.
  • Familiarity with financial oversight and budget management in engineering projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of industry safety regulations and compliance standards.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey technical information clearly.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and evaluate engineering site activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Assist in the preparation and oversight of project plans, budgets, and timelines.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize resource allocation and utilization on-site.
  • Conduct regular site visits to gather data for progress reports and identify potential challenges early.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports comparing actual expenditures to budgeted amounts and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Support senior management by generating documentation for project proposals and progress assessments.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols by conducting safety inspections and providing training, if needed.
  • Actively participate in team meetings to discuss project status and coordinate activities among departments.
  • Maintain accurate records of project developments, engineering changes, and site activities for future reference.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and reducing costs.

Required Skills:

  • Strong foundational knowledge of engineering principles and project management methodologies.
  • Proficiency in engineering software and tools relevant to project tracking and reporting.
  • Excellent data analysis skills to interpret project metrics and KPIs effectively.
  • Solid understanding of budget management and financial tracking processes.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with team members and stakeholders.
  • Proficient in technical writing to prepare reports, proposals, and documentation.
  • Flexibility to adapt to project changes and challenges in a dynamic environment.
  • Basic understanding of software applications for project management (e.g., MS Project, or equivalent).
  • Commitment to professional development and learning within the engineering field.
