POSITION SUMMARY:
The Engineer, Planning is responsible for developing comprehensive project plans to support large-scale industrial construction initiatives; scheduling, budgeting, and risk management to ensure projects are completed efficiently and in alignment with company objectives; collaborating with various departments utilizing advanced planning tools to monitor progress and facilitate effective communication with all stakeholders.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Engineer, Planning is responsible for developing comprehensive project plans to support large-scale industrial construction initiatives; scheduling, budgeting, and risk management to ensure projects are completed efficiently and in alignment with company objectives; collaborating with various departments utilizing advanced planning tools to monitor progress and facilitate effective communication with all stakeholders.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Management
- Handle complex engineering projects, as a senior project management practitioner, from initial stages through to execution and final close-out related to project planning, an integral and critically important element of project management.
- Ensure project planning conforms to project management principles, processes and methodologies duly aligned with Tasnee’s project management framework.
- Align best project management practices in project planning as well as Tasnee’s strategic objectives.
- Provide credible support to project management teams through efficient and system-based project planning.
- Attend project meetings and submit reports to the senior project management on a regular basis.
- Project Scope Management
- Play a key role in establishing clear project scope parameters in collaboration with Tasnee’s engineering and operations teams, ensuring that each aspect of the scope aligns with business needs and client expectations. This includes working on large-scale infrastructure projects or plant maintenance initiatives.
- Play a leading role in development of scope validation processes, using detailed documentation and regular scope reviews to minimize deviations and ensure all project deliverables are met according to Tasnee’s high standards.
- Attend scope management meetings, keeping stakeholders informed of any changes or refinements to the project plan, ensuring full alignment with Tasnee’s strategic goals and industry best practices.
- Project Planning Management
- Play a pivotal role in development of comprehensive project plans, incorporating detailed timelines, risk assessments, and resource allocations specific to Tasnee’s ongoing and future construction projects, such as the expansion of production facilities in Jubail Industrial City.
- Utilize advanced project planning tools and systems, like Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project, to develop structured project plans that support Tasnee’s complex industrial initiatives, such as plant expansions or infrastructure upgrades.
- Coordinate the integration of construction and procurement schedules, ensuring that critical resources and materials are available when needed, minimizing delays and optimizing productivity.
- Regularly update and refine project plans to reflect progress, resource availability, and emerging risks, using data-driven analysis to inform strategic decisions and maintain project efficiency.
- Project Scheduling Management
- Play a key role in development of detailed project schedules tailored to the demands of Tasnee’s construction and industrial projects, utilizing scheduling software like Primavera P6 to map out each phase and identify critical paths.
- Track and analyze schedule performance, adjusting as needed to accommodate unforeseen challenges, such as equipment delays or resource constraints, to keep the project on course.
- Attend regular scheduling workshops with cross-functional teams to discuss and align on timeline expectations, ensuring clear understanding and commitment from all parties involved.
- Project Cost Management
- Play a leading role in development of project budgets, ensuring all costs related to Tasnee’s industrial projects, from raw materials to contractor fees, are accurately estimated and controlled.
- Track and forecast project costs, analyzing expenditures and identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or project scope, crucial for projects such as the construction of new production lines.
- Prepare financial reports for senior management, providing a clear overview of budget adherence and making recommendations for cost optimization to maximize Tasnee’s investment returns.
- Project Risk Management
- Playing a key role in identifying and evaluating risks associated with Tasnee’s projects, such as supply chain disruptions or safety concerns, and develop comprehensive risk mitigation strategies.
- Provide support in maintaining a dynamic risk register, updating it continuously to reflect current conditions and ensuring that all risk management plans are in place and communicated to relevant teams.
- Facilitate risk management workshops to proactively address potential issues, ensuring that Tasnee’s projects are resilient and capable of adapting to unexpected challenges.
- Project Management Methodologies
- Play a pivotal role in implementation of project management methodologies suited to the scale and complexity of Tasnee’s operations, such as Agile for iterative developments or Waterfall for structured timelines in construction projects.
- Customize methodologies to align with Tasnee’s unique project requirements, ensuring flexibility and efficiency while maintaining strict quality control and compliance standards.
- Project Stakeholders Management
- Engage with key stakeholders, including project sponsors, contractors, and government authorities, to ensure all requirements are documented and integrated into project plans.
- Communicate updates and project changes effectively, using clear and structured communication methods to maintain trust and transparency throughout the project lifecycle.
- Address and resolve stakeholder concerns, using negotiation and strategic communication skills to keep projects aligned with Tasnee’s objectives and maintain strong relationships.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- Certified Planning Engineer (CPE)
- 12 to 15 years’ experience in project planning of large-scale industrial projects
- Experience in project scheduling, cost estimation, and resource management, ideally within petrochemical or manufacturing environments
- Competent knowledge in English and Arabic, Spoken and Written
- Capable of preparing and maintaining high quality, dynamic project plans and schedules collaborating with project team
- Capable of preparing project progress analysis and reporting
- Strong know-how of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, direct, perform, review, and present project schedules
- Capability of using a high level of professional judgment and knowledge related to technical planning, scheduling skills and engineering design, construction, and procurement practices
- Problem-solving, planning & organizing skills
- High-level communication, collaboration, analytical, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Strong business acumen and in-depth knowledge related to project management principles, methodologies and practices
