Job Purpose:
The incumbent is accountable for the effective implementation of safety, health and environmental procedures & programs and related systems. Preparation of related safety, health and environmental records, compliance to the reporting and record keeping requirements of regulatory and other authorities. Identification of requirements for approvals, exemptions and waivers. Implementation of relevant industrial hygiene programs, and the training of all the employees in reference to the safety, health and environmental programs, regulations.
Key Accountabilities:
- Assess the learning from site EHSS field visits, Life Saving Compliance (LSC), incidents, close calls, etc. he shall communicate these to appropriate site stakeholders along with required actions to enhance EHSS performance.
- Develop, implement and update safety, Health & Environment procedures to minimize risks and meet statutory requirements and understand the risk management system.
- Evaluate and improve safety awareness program and conduct safety, Health and Environment training for company employees & contractors.
- Participation in accident investigation and make recommendation to ensure that appropriate lesson are learned and practices changed to prevent reoccurrence.
- Respond effectively to request for advice and pro-actively address safety, SABIC OMS/SHEMS issues in specific incidents or situations to build-in safety wherever possible and minimize risk.
- Lead / participate in review PHA, MOC, PSSR and Environment studies. monitor the implementation of recommendations as well as participate in the project design review PSSR and HAZOP to ensure all safety and Environment requirement in place.
- Monitor eSWP system implementation and reporting any concerned to SABIC EHS Digitalization team.
- Conduct SABIC OMS/SHEMS Self Assessments both internal & external (with SABIC) and follow-up for implementation of recommendations.
- Identify, and where necessary develop, the safety, health and environmental operational controls for Significant Environmental Aspects, and legal and other requirements.
- Develop performance measurement indicators or Key Environmental Indicators for SEAs and for each departmental objectives and targets.
- Maintain appropriate safety, health and environmental records as well as Preparation of quarterly and annual compliance reports for SABIC EHSS and RC.
- Identify the appropriate training needs for safety, health and environment pursuant to the applicable requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical or Environment Engineering or equivalent
Minimum Experience:
- Minimum three (3) years of experience a related position
Job Specific Skills:
- Ability to deal effectively and tactfully within the organization, with outside regulatory authorities and other related agencies.
- Knowledge of United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Occupational
- Safety and Health Agency (OSHA) regulations.
- In-depth knowledge of the environmental health and safety regulations.
- Knowledge of report writing.
- Thorough knowledge of computer use. o Fluent in speaking, writing and reading English.
- Familiar with High Commission Industrial Security Directive (HCIS)
- Knowledge of Royal commission environment regulation (RCER)
- Certified as per NEBOSH requirements (preferable)
