Job Purpose
The Director, Financial Planning and Reporting is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities within SOPC. This role ensures the integrity and accuracy of financial data, delivers timely insights to support decision-making, and drives continuous improvements in financial performance and resource allocation. The Director will collaborate with senior leadership and business units to align financial strategies with organizational objectives, manage enterprise-level financial reporting, and maintain compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

This role ensures the integrity and accuracy of financial data, delivers timely insights to support decision-making, and drives continuous improvements in financial performance and resource allocation. The Director will collaborate with senior leadership and business units to align financial strategies with organizational objectives, manage enterprise-level financial reporting, and maintain compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
Job Specific Accountabilities Financial Planning and Budgeting
- Lead the annual budgeting and multi-year financial planning processes, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
- Review and consolidate financial plans submitted by business units, providing recommendations for optimization and efficiency.
- Oversee variance analysis, identifying risks and opportunities, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Develop rolling forecasts and financial models to support strategic and operational decision-making.
- Provide timely financial insights to executives, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Drive performance management processes, linking financial outcomes to organizational strategy.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including monthly management reports, quarterly reviews, and annual financial statements.
- Oversee the preparation of presentations for the Board, Audit Committee, and senior leadership.
- Monitor compliance with IFRS (or applicable accounting standards) and ensure transparent disclosure of financial information.
- Lead financial analysis of capital projects, investments, and business initiatives, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
- Provide recommendations on funding, cost optimization, and investment strategies.
- Identify and drive opportunities to streamline financial planning and reporting processes.
- Implement best practices in financial governance, data integrity, and analytics.
- Champion the use of technology and automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Partner with cross-functional leaders to ensure financial strategies support operational and strategic objectives.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on financial implications of strategic initiatives.
- Professional certification such as CPA, CMA, CFA, or ACCA strongly preferred.
