The Director Assurance and Audit is responsible for translating strategic quality objectives into operational plans and leading the execution of assurance and audit activities across Development Business Units and Asset Delivery Teams. This role ensures the effective implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS), audit readiness, and compliance with quality standards. The Director oversees stage gate reviews, monitors performance metrics, and drives continuous improvement initiatives. Acting as a key liaison between senior leadership, Development Business Units and Asset Delivery Team. The Director fosters collaboration, mitigates quality risks, and ensures consistent application of best practices. The role also involves managing cross-functional coordination and providing insights to support strategic decision-making.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Translate strategic goals into operational plans for Assurance and Audit across business units
• Oversee execution of the Assurance and Audit strategy within assigned domains
• Lead cross-functional coordination to ensure quality integration in development and delivery
• Supervise audit planning, execution, and follow-up activities
• Ensure stage gate reviews are conducted with full compliance and documentation
• Validate procurement quality requirements and ensure consistent application across projects
• Monitor contractor and consultant adherence to design quality assurance processes
• Ensure QMS implementation across development teams and business units
• Support internal and external audit readiness and response coordination
• Promote a culture of quality ownership and continuous improvement
• Represent the Assurance and Audit function in operational leadership forums
• Ensure quality resources and consultants are allocated effectively to projects
• Track and report on quality KPIs and performance metrics
• Drive adoption of quality best practices across teams and projects
• Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies
• Engage with external stakeholders to align quality expectations and deliverables

Requirements

BSc in Engineering, Quality management or similar degree (i.e. UK Level 6)

Chartered Quality Professional CQP MCQI or similar

Certified ISO 9001 Quality Management System Lead Auditor

Over 12 years of leadership experience in the Construction Industry on mega or giga projects
