Job Summary

The Coverage CIB BPM role supports the CEO Office and Coverage Team with a focus on governance, and business performance. They will be responsible to work with the CEO & Coverage Head, Saudi Arabia, as well as the CIB Coverage Team in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East & Pakistan Cluster to drive business performance and results through:

  • Business reviews & sales enablement,
  • Client portfolio management and proposition,
  • People agenda,
  • frontline communication,
  • Business strategy execution and project management.

The Business Planning Manager will work closely with the relevant Heads of Coverage, CMT Members, Regional Business Planning Manager CIB Coverage and team, Finance, HR, CABM and COO teams as well as the other global Business Development teams. The role is inherently varied and reflects the changing demands and responsibilities of the Coverage Business in the country and cluster.

The role involves a combination of routine, project and ad-hoc work

Key Responsibilities

Strategy and Business

CEO Office Responsibilities

  • Support the CEO with the development of the country strategy based on the agreed key priorities and the desired outcome, to align with Group and Cluster.
  • Work with EXCO members in preparation and execution of country strategy.
  • Ensure that an appropriate tracking / follow up mechanism is in place to effectively measure progress against strategic priorities.
  • Take a key role in identifying issues, structuring work plans, forming hypotheses, designing, and conducting research & analyses, synthesising conclusions, making presentations, and helping implement change in ensuring the attainment of strategic goals.
  • Work with the CEO to identify in-organic growth opportunities.
  • Keep track of country financial performance, balance sheet and capital adequacy requirements – raising any issues and working with business in identifying enablers to achieve / exceed budgets.

CIB Coverage Responsibilities

  • Review periodically the delivery of agreed business performance and cost targets to budget (e.g. revenue, RoRWA, RWA, costs), including metrics which are material and relevant for the Coverage scorecard (e.g. TB asset utilisation vs. NIM, etc). Identify risks and opportunities to delivering the targeted business performance and propose remediation plans and actions.
  • Lead preparation for business reviews, as well other regular updates (Group/ Regional MT, Board, ALCO, etc).
  • Manage Coverage cost budgets and cost centres in close coordination and with the support from HR and Finance.
  • Review and track frontline productivity using a standardised approach. Identify areas for improvement.
  • Help define, driving and tracking Sub-Optimal reduction plans, including expected impact on P&L.
  • Engage and support material transaction approvals and attend RCAF reviews as and when needed. Monitor accounts for RCAF commitments.

Business

CEO Office Responsibilities

  • Support the CEO in performance management discussions
  • Working with the CFO team/BPM to facilitate quarterly sessions to track performance targets against actual in light of the set performance objectives.
  • Track performance through the country scorecard focusing on critical performance metrics
  • Prepare performance management reviews/presentations as and when required.

CIB Coverage Responsibilities

  • Manage the implementation of country CIB client segment strategies and ensuring alignment of country with Cluster & Group.
  • Work with the CEO & Coverage Head, Saudi Arabia, to co-define a go-to-market strategy and execution plan (what types of client segments / sectors should we be focusing on in which market): business strategic priorities and translation into strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Regional BPM as needed for implementing Cluster strategies in the country.
  • Organise and lead yearly or ad hoc strategy days to ensure close communication and alignment between Coverage, products, and functional teams.
  • Lead the preparation of the annual Corporate Plan for the business section.
  • Business Performance (Revenue and Returns)
  • Conduct analysis of Revenues and Returns for Segments/Products/Clients/RMs.
  • Preparation of performance presentations for various stakeholders.
  • Tracking of performance to budget and identifying risks and opportunities to delivering the targeted business performance.
  • Analyse and report on the CIB deal pipeline.

Qualifications

  • Banking experience
  • Masters or Bachelors degree
  • Experience of working with senior stakeholders
  • Focused, organised and results-oriented
  • Strong and detailed understanding of the CIB business and product capabilities, such as sales process, relationship management, risk, product sales etc
  • Problem solving skill to co-create client strategy, drive root-cause analysis, analyse business performance, etc
  • Willing to question the status quo, comfortable interacting with senior management
  • Excellent written & oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with excellent eye for detail
  • Highly proactive, demonstrating ambition, dedication and pride in work
  • Ability to create effective work relationships across functions & borders

  • Can work without supervision to strict timeframes; Self-motivated to work with minimum supervision.
