Role Overview

The BIM Specialist is responsible for managing Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes and systems to support project execution, collaboration, and data management. This role ensures accurate information flow between design, construction, and client teams, improving efficiency and compliance with project standards.


Key Responsibilities

Information Management

  • Develop and manage systems to collect, store, and distribute project information in alignment with goals, timelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the accuracy and completeness of shared information across teams, including construction, design, and client teams.
  • Implement and manage tools for document control, BIM integration, and site data management to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Manage LOD 400 and LOD 500 (Level of Development) BIM models, ensuring accuracy, updates, and effective sharing across relevant project teams.
  • Develop Dynamo Scripts / Revit API to automate tasks and improve efficiency.
  • Create and manage BEP (BIM Execution Plan) for projects to standardize processes and ensure consistency.

Coordination and Liaison

  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, contractors, and clients to ensure seamless communication and data flow.
  • Act as the central point of contact for all information management-related queries from the site supervision team.
  • Facilitate meetings and discussions related to information management, issue resolution, and BIM coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Quality Control

  • Ensure all site information and documentation meet required quality standards and comply with project specifications.
  • Conduct regular audits of project information to verify the correctness and proper utilization of data.
  • Address and resolve discrepancies or inconsistencies in project information, particularly those impacting site activities and construction drawings.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Prepare and deliver regular reports on the status of project information, including updates on LOD 400/500 models, document control, and site data management issues.
  • Maintain an organized archive of site data and project documents for easy retrieval and compliance audits.
  • Provide feedback and recommend improvements to enhance information management practices on the project.

  • Set up and maintain document control systems for drawings, specifications, contracts, and schedules.

Site Data Management

  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date project data is available for site teams and stakeholders.

Collaborative Communication

  • Support seamless communication across all teams, from construction to design to project management.

Risk Management

  • Identify and mitigate potential risks related to information flow or document management.

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, local regulations, and company policies concerning information management and data privacy.


Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Knowledge

  • BIM and LOD Standards: Thorough understanding of LOD 400/500 models and their application in construction and site supervision.
  • Information Management: Expertise in document control, data management, and collaboration tools such as Procore, Aconex, ACC, Asite.
  • Construction Practices: Familiarity with construction drawings, project scheduling, and engineering specifications in large-scale building projects.

Skills

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to identify issues and provide effective solutions related to information management and site coordination.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work in a team-oriented environment with engineers, contractors, and project managers.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy in data management and site reports to minimize errors.
  • Technology Proficiency: Expertise in BIM tools, construction project management software, and platforms such as MS Project, Revit, Navisworks, and Aconex.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in information management and site supervision, preferably in large-scale building and infrastructure projects.
  • Significant experience with LOD 400/500 BIM standards, including managing detailed models for large construction projects.
  • Experience in the UAE or GCC region is highly desirable, with knowledge of local standards, regulations, and construction practices.
  • Strong background in the construction and management of building projects.
  • Extensive understanding of 4D & 5D deliverables and related protocols.
  • Experience in BIM ISO 19650 and managing the production of Asset Information Models (AIM) with related O&M data.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Mechanical or Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Information Management.
  • Certification in BIM tools (Revit, Navisworks) or Project Management (PMP) is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in English for communication with international teams and clients.
