Qualcomm is seeking a Principal/Sr Staff Engineer to play a key technical leadership role in the development of the AI Infrastructure Management Suite (AIMS), the software platform used to provision, operate, and manage large-scale AI data center deployments.
This role focuses on hands-on technical ownership across UI, orchestration, and lifecycle management components of AIMS. The candidate Engineer will design, implement, and evolve critical parts of the system while collaborating closely with product leads, architects, and cross-functional teams to deliver production-grade AI infrastructure software at rack and fleet scale.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and own major components of AIMS spanning operator-facing UI, orchestration services, and lifecycle management workflows.
- Drive technical execution for Day-0 through Day-2 operations including provisioning, configuration, upgrades, expansion, and decommissioning of AI infrastructure.
- Build reliable, observable, and scalable control-plane services that manage racks, clusters, and fleets of AI systems.
- Collaborate with UI, platform, firmware, and hardware teams to ensure cohesive system behavior from silicon to software.
- Participate actively in design reviews, code reviews, debugging, and performance analysis of distributed systems.
- Act as a technical mentor for senior and staff engineers, raising the overall engineering bar through examples and guidance.
- Develop and maintain operator-facing web applications and dashboards using Node.js.
- Implement UI workflows for monitoring, inventory, telemetry visualization, and lifecycle operations.
- Ensure UI components are tightly aligned with backend APIs, state models, and real-world operational workflows.
- Design and implement orchestration services responsible for resource abstraction, scheduling, and workload lifecycle management for AI workloads.
- Build and operate control-plane services deployed on Kubernetes.
- Ensure orchestration logic integrates cleanly with underlying rack and node management systems.
- Implement lifecycle automation using Terraform and Ansible for provisioning, configuration, and updates.
- Design safe rollout, upgrade, rollback, and recovery mechanisms suitable for fleet-scale deployments.
- Develop Python-based automation and services to support lifecycle workflows and operational tooling.
- Strong experience with Node.js for backend and UI-driven infrastructure systems.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code and environment management.
- Proficiency with Ansible for configuration management and automation.
- Solid knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker for deploying and operating distributed systems.
- Strong Python skills for orchestration services, tooling, and automation.
- Experience building or operating large-scale infrastructure or platform software in production environments.
- Experience with managing large software systems (Python, C++)
- Core AIMS components are reliable, scalable, and operable in real customer and internal data center deployments.
- Operators can confidently manage AI infrastructure through intuitive UIs and automated lifecycle workflows.
- The Principal Engineer is recognized as a go-to technical owner for critical AIMS functionality.
