Role Overview
Saudi Gold Refinery (SGR) is seeking a Mine Operator in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to execute safe and efficient extraction and drilling activities at our mining sites. This role involves operating heavy machinery such as drill rigs and haul trucks to supply high-quality feedstock for our refining operations. The successful candidate will adhere to strict HSE standards and contribute to the Kingdom's mining sector growth under Vision 2030.
The Mine Operator will report directly to the Mine Shift Supervisor and will play a key role in maintaining production targets and equipment reliability. This position requires a focused professional who can work effectively in shift patterns and prioritize safety in all operational decisions.
Key Responsibilities
The Mine Operator is responsible for the following key duties:
Heavy Equipment Operation
The role operates drill rigs, excavators, and haul trucks to extract ore and move materials according to the daily mine plan.
Safety Compliance
This position adheres to all site safety protocols including Permit to Work systems and wears required personal protective equipment at all times.
Preventive Maintenance
The operator conducts daily pre-start inspections and reports mechanical issues to maintenance teams to prevent equipment failure.
Production Reporting
This role records accurate data on tonnage moved, fuel usage, and operating hours in the digital shift log system.
Drilling Support
The operator assists drilling crews by positioning equipment accurately and securing blast zones during explosive operations.
Environmental Control
This position implements dust suppression and spill management measures to comply with environmental regulations and site permits.
Shift Handover
The role provides detailed verbal and written handover reports to incoming shifts regarding production status and safety concerns.
Emergency Response
This position participates in regular emergency drills and responds appropriately to incidents under the direction of site leadership.
Qualifications
● High school diploma or vocational certificate in heavy equipment operation is required.
● At least three years of experience operating mining machinery in an industrial setting is necessary.
● Valid Saudi driving license for heavy vehicles must be current and active.
● Knowledge of HSE principles including Lockout Tagout and hazard identification is essential.
● Ability to read basic mine plans and follow technical instructions in English and Arabic is required.
● Physical fitness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and shift patterns is mandatory.
● Proficiency in using digital logging tools and radio communication systems is expected.
● Understanding of basic mechanical troubleshooting for diesel and hydraulic systems is preferred.
Preferred / Nice-to-have
● Certification from the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation in heavy equipment operation.
● Previous experience in gold or precious metal mining projects in Saudi Arabia.
● Training in first aid and fire fighting specific to industrial mining environments.
● Familiarity with GPS-guided drilling and haulage systems.
Success Metrics
● Zero recordable safety incidents or environmental breaches over the assessment period.
● Achievement of 100 percent of individual tonnage and drilling meter targets.
● Equipment availability rate maintained above 90 percent through proactive inspections.
● Completion of all mandatory training modules within the first six months.
● Positive performance review scores for reliability and procedural adherence.
● Proficiency demonstrated in operating at least two distinct types of heavy machinery.
● Accurate and timely submission of all shift logs and production reports.
