Job Description

An Infection Control Practitioner (ICP) is responsible for preventing and controlling infections within healthcare settings. The ICP develops, implements, and monitors infection prevention strategies and collaborates with healthcare teams to ensure patient and staff safety.

Compliance Monitoring, Surveillance and Outbreak Investigation:

  • Ensure compliance with infection control standards and regulations.
  • Conduct audits and inspections to assess adherence to protocols
  • Monitor infection rates and trends in the facility
  • Assess infection risk in healthcare settings.
  • Analyse data to identify outbreaks and areas for improvement
  • Lead investigations of infection outbreaks, including data collection and reporting findings.
  • Regular infection control rounds to maintain safe practice and education
  • Providing report of the findings with action plan.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work with clinical staff to implement infection control measures.
  • Facilitate regular meetings and updates with cross functional teams to ensure alignment and address challenges
  • Lead infection control committee and discuss potential risks with the mitigation plan.
  • Collaborate with departments such as quality assurance, risk management, and public health

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure all processes are aligned with MOH regulation
  • Report communicable diseases to MOH platforms
  • Ensure compliance of staff immunization record and staff health policies
  • Approve all IPC related medical supplies, cleaning materials and detergents that is used in all healthcare facility as per CDC, OSHA recommendations.

Education & Training:

  • Provide training and resources for healthcare staff on best practices for infection prevention and control
  • Monitor the staff training records of IPC
  • Ensure full compliance to N95 fit testing for all HCW, and its renewal.

Professional Deelopment:

  • Maintains the highest levels of professional competence through ongoing personal professional development using multiple modalities such as attendance at conferences and symposium, workshops and in-services, reading role related journals and textbooks and networking with others.
  • Pursue ongoing education and training to stay abreast of advancements in infection control practices and healthcare technology.
  • Seek opportunities for professional growth and skill development through workshops, seminars, and certifications.
  • Maintain current licensure and certifications required for the position.
  • Acts as a preceptor for new employees.

Quality Improvement and Compliance:

  • enhance patient care and safety.
  • Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
  • Develop and create and update infection control policies and procedures in accordance with MOH and accreditation bodies.
  • Assist in the implementation of evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of departmental indicators, especially the required interventions and prevention
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job.

Skills

  • Graduation from an accredited Nursing organization or related field.
  • Certified infection control practitioner accredited program.
  • Current and valid SCHS license
  • Minimum 5 Years, preferably in commissioning and operating hospitals as infection control practitioner.
  • Proven experience in infection control field.
  • Knowledge in regulatory standards and quality assurance process
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing patient needs and environments.
  • Service mindset
