Job Description


The Technician III serves as lead technician within assigned section. Evaluates, selects and executes standard and advanced scientific techniques used in diagnostic laboratory functions, provides assistance to professional staff



Responsibilities:




  • Serves as lead technician within assigned section



  • Evaluates, selects and executes standard and advanced scientific techniques used in diagnostic laboratory functions



  • Supervises and participates in the spring preparation of fields and levees for research plots



  • Assists with evaluation, harvest, and cataloging of large plots in support of research and education operations



  • Assists scientific and professional staff in scheduling and use of equipment



  • Supervises and assist in the maintenance of research fields, field roads and drainage systems. Including mowing, grading, back filling road materials, maintaining drainage systems, and repairing underground irrigation system



  • Performs routine maintenance, troubleshooting and assist in repairs to scientific, farm equipment and machinery



  • Performs other related duties as required




Required Education and Experience:




  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience



  • Three years of related experience




Preferred Experience:




  • 5+ year’s growing, maintaining, and harvesting commercial-scale rice fields



  • Working relationship with local growers




Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:




  • Ability to operate a wide range of field equipment



  • Ability to enter information into database, use word processing, and spreadsheets



  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus, and computer equipment



  • Skilled in use of relevant laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus, and computer equipment



  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills



  • Ensure attention to detail



  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others




Required Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:




  • Willingness to complete training required to obtain a Wastewater license




Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
