Position Summary:


The Category Manager is accountable for leading the Space & Assortment function across the Division; developing insights and capitalizing on opportunities to maximize our space in the accounts we can impact.


Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:



  • Oversee all aspects of the Space & Assortment Department to include the collection and transfer of sales intelligence, training, set maintenance/storage, monthly reporting, development of “best in class” Space & Assortment processes and participation in special projects.

  • Coach, mentor, supervise and lead the Space & Assortment team’s activities (in the office and at retail) and help reinforce structured disciplines that will allow them to perform their jobs at a consistently high level.

  • Create development plans that will engage and motivate team members to excel within their positions.

  • Responsible for hiring, training and conducting annual performance evaluations of all members of the Space & Assortment team.

  • Allocate the resources necessary to assist with Space & Assortment team training.

  • Attend retail account buyer calls as needed to help advance distributor's position within these accounts.

  • Work to build and develop strong business relationships with our supplier partners and retailers. Participate in planning and strategy meetings as required.

  • Travel to all business units to train and support personnel as needed.

  • Any other duties as assigned




Required Skills and Experience:



  • College Degree

  • 5+ years Category/Space & Assortment management experience;

  • 3+ years sales experience

  • 3+ years management experience

  • Excellent analytical skills and be proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word, and an above average competency with JDA.

  • Ability to manage large number of space planning team members, as well as ability to collaborate with various teams including Sales, Brand, Key Accounts and Supply Chain to ensure growth in sales and market share.

  • Demonstrate a proficient level of understanding of Space & Assortment management process and technology.

  • IRI and/or Nielsen analytical skills required.

  • Ability to navigate hierarchal database to access and analyze store level data.
