Johnson County's Department of Human Resources is looking for a dynamic Recruitment Specialist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for an HR professional with a desire to join a collaborative and high performing team in an organization that positively impacts thousands of lives in our community every day. The successful candidate will provide support to a team of Human Resources Partners specifically focused on recruitment and sourcing candidates. This position may be filled as either a Recruitment Specialist I or Recruitment Specialist II.
Recruitment Specialist I (annualized salary range $49,982 - 67,550 DOQ):
- Searches external resume databases to identify potential qualified candidates; coordinates regular recruitment meetings; collaborates with HR Partners regarding department specific recruitment needs and the Talent & Diversity Specialist regarding countywide sourcing and recruitment strategies; researches and identifies creative recruitment sources for hard to fill positions.
- Creates engaging job advertisements to be used in a variety of areas; posts and maintains job ads on external sites; works with the County Public Information Office (PIO) to creatively promote employment opportunities on social media.
- Hosts virtual and onsite job fairs and open houses; attends and coordinates external job fairs, campus recruiting, and other hiring events; creates and maintains recruitment materials; speaks with potential candidates about the County’s employment opportunities.
- Assists HR Partners with screening applications for minimum and preferred qualifications, communicating with candidates regarding the hiring process, and extending offers to selected candidates.
- Performs administrative duties such as creating reports, forms, and letters, and accepts and completes projects and other miscellaneous Human Resources tasks; creates, maintains, and uses spreadsheets or databases to interpret and organize resource information; provides customized reports; recommends changes to recruitment procedures and methods.
Recruitment Specialist II (annualized salary range $60,553 - 90,829 DOQ):
- Assists in development and maintenance of recruitment strategy; builds and maintains networks to find qualified candidates; builds and maintains relationships with colleges, community colleges, and other organizations; facilitates recruitment presentations to classrooms, membership groups, professional networks, etc.
- Searches external resume databases to identify potential qualified candidates; coordinates regular recruitment meetings; collaborates with HR Partners regarding department specific recruitment needs and the Talent & Diversity Specialist regarding countywide sourcing and recruitment strategies; researches and identifies creative recruitment sources for hard to fill positions.

Job Requirements
Recruitment Specialist I: Associate’s Degree in Human Resources, Management, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Business Administration, Public Administration, or relevant field of study; and two (2) years of experience in Human Resources or relevant environment. Education can substitute for experience. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Management, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Business Administration, Public Administration, or relevant field.
Recruitment Specialist II: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Management, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Business Administration, Public Administration, or relevant field of study; and three (3) years of experience in a Human Resources or relevant environment. Education can substitute for experience.
Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:
All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments/agencies in a declared emergency situation.
