The Facilities Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all installation, repair, and upkeep operations of an organization's facilities. Maintenance manager will ensure that their co-workers have the best physical resources available to complete their duties according to the allotted budget. Additionally, a maintenance manager will have a solid understanding of plumbing and electrical systems as well as carpentry and other crafts.


Successful maintenance manager possesses deep knowledge of engineering and mechanical concepts and has strong time management and organizational skills.

Facilities Maintenance Manager Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Oversee, manage, and direct all maintenance procedures and operations

  • Ensure all machinery is up to working standards

  • Assess current maintenance work processes, to optimize efficiency

  • Manage proactively

  • Use data analysis to help prepare for and prevent future problems

  • Create and implement measures to minimize breakdowns and repairs (Performing quality checks of all machinery, tools, equipment etc.)

  • Maintain Maintenance logs and report on daily activities

  • Troubleshoot problem areas and create a clear plan of action for fixing necessary parts

  • Oversee and manage equipment, machinery and building repairs

  • Train new employees in maintenance work processes and procedures

  • Create a work environment with safety as a high priority

  • Perform evaluations of employees to ensure quality of work

  • Record and track daily progress/error reports

  • Manage/Maintain vendor and contractor relationships and order new materials as needed

  • Create and adhere to maintenance budgets

  • Enforce all health and safety rules and regulations according to state/federal laws and company protocol.

Requirements:

Facilities Maintenance Manager Requirements and Qualifications



  • 10+ years' experience in maintenance management role

  • Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, including electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems

  • Ability to keep track of and report on activity

  • Experience in planning maintenance operations

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent leadership and management skills

  • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with staff members

  • Competent in problem solving, team building, planning and decision making required.

  • Extensive knowledge in a variety of mechanical systems

  • Previous managerial experience highly preferred

  • Experience managing multiple vendors

  • Ability to consistently maintain positive client relationships

  • Can effectively and efficiently handle both administrative and mechanical responsibilities

  • Always makes safety a priority

  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Suite) and a solid understanding of data analysis software
