APS-3: Maintenance Shop Supervisor

KBR is seeking a highly qualified and experienced leader to fill a vacancy as a maintenance supervisor in one of our Automotive Maintenance Work centers in the APS-3 program

About the program:

KBR executes a contract for the US Army to provide Maintenance and Logistics services for the Army’s Prepositioned Warstock set #3 (APS-3) at the Army Field Support Battalion - Charleston, located on the Charleston Naval Weapons Station. The Maintenance Department consists of 180-210 employees in nine maintenance shops across 12 facilities, and provides Field Level Maintenance on the full spectrum combat and tactical equipment assigned to the program.

Position Description:

The Maintenance Supervisor is one of nine maintenance shop supervisors with a direct reporting relationship to the Maintenance Department Manager. Responsible for supervising 8-40 employees in the performance of automotive maintenance on military vehicles, associated platforms, and trailers.

Work is generally conducted in an office setting, and in a maintenance shop environment, and out of doors environment, with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain work areas. Prolonged sitting, standing, and walking within work areas can be expected.

Specific Responsibilities: Responsible for developing weekly goals and objectives to meet department production schedules while also meeting acceptable quality level standards. Responsible for enforcing Health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment is provided for our employees, and OSHA requirements are met. Provides input into Basis of Estimate (BOE). Responsible for care and accountability of all assigned government furnished vehicles, tools, and facilities. Enforces department and program policies and procedures. Recommends personnel actions.

The person filling this position may be required to deploy to support APS-3 program.


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, or formal education in automotive maintenance, plus 5 years supervisory experience, or

  • A combination of some college plus military training in a maintenance MOS plus 8 years’ experience in progressive leadership positions may be considered in lieu of formal education, or

  • 10 years of progressive experience in automotive maintenance and plus 3 years of relevant supervisory experience may be considered in lieu of formal education

  • Specific contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail.

  • Possess a valid State Motor Vehicle Operator License

  • U.S. Citizen.

  • Must obtain and maintain local base access.

  • Must obtain and maintain Common Access Card (CAC) requirements.

  • Familiarity with AWRDS is a plus

  • Quality control / quality assurance training or QMS experience is a plus

  • Military experience in maintenance management / supervision is a plus


Physical requirements include lifting up to 35lb, team lifting up to 50lbs, climbing, extended sitting, or standing, stooping, stretching, and bending.

Work may require using and wearing personal protective equipment such as, hearing and eye protection, hard hat and steel-toed boots as well as Individual Protective Equipment (IPE) which may include but not limited to Level III plus/IV Individual Body Armor with both front and back ballistic plates, ACH helmet, clothing (undergarments, shirts and pants and/or coveralls), reflective vests/belts, sound suppression devices, etc.

Day-to-day physical requirements may involve standard office activities including sitting/standing for extended periods of time, attending meetings, use of keyboard and mouse repetitively, lifting and carrying less than 20 lbs. frequently, etc.

Work requires moderate physical exertion including walking to operating areas and walking up stairs.
