Summary



First Baptist Preschool in Newport News is looking to hire an assistant teacher in our four year old classroom. This position would be for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year. Our school year ends in May and the last day of work will be Friday, May 26th. There is the potential opportunity to return for the 2023-2024 school year which runs September - May.

This is a part time position 4 days a week, Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-12:30pm. This job would be ideal for a stay at home parent with school aged children or a parent who wants to bring their child to preschool with them! (This would be dependent on there being a space available for your child). We love former teachers who want to keep their foot in the education world. We love retired teachers who miss the classroom. We love current students or recent graduates of teaching programs at TNCC, CNU or ODU. We love anyone who loves children! Duties



  • Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children.

  • Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.

  • Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.

  • Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center.

  • Follow all center policies and state regulations.

  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.




Requirements



  • High energy.

  • Ability to work well with others.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • An understanding of child development.

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
