      Personal Care Attendant (PCA) Services is a type of non-medical health care that enables people to live independently within their homes and stay in their community. PCA services are available to clients with disabilities of all ages, the elderly (over age 65), and to clients with chronic health conditions.One of our friendly Registered Nurses (RN) visits each client every 60 days. A home visit from an RN is used to supervise and monitor the performance of the PCA, assess the clients’ needs as conditions change, and to update the care plan as necessary.

PCA Services provide assistance and prompting in the following areas:

  • Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs):

  • Eating: includes getting food into body; transfers, mobility, positioning, hand washing, applying orthotics as needed for eating, feeding, preparing meals, and grocery shopping.

  • Grooming: Includes hair care/nail care/oral care; shave. Assist with make-up, deodorant, eyeglasses/contacts, hearing aids; orthotics)

  • Bathing: Includes start/finish bath/shower, transfers, mobility, positioning, inspect skin, apply lotion.

  • Dressing: Includes laying out clothing, applying, and changing clothing, orthotics, prosthetics, transfers, mobility and positioning complete task.

  • Toileting: Includes bowel/bladder elimination and care, transfers, mobility, positioning, feminine hygiene, use of equipment and supplies, peri-care, and skin inspection.

  • Behavior: Redirecting, intervening, observing, monitoring, and documenting behavior. Assisting with keeping track of money and bills. Mental and/or emotional conditions that interfere with everyday activities.

  • Health-Related Functions: hands on assistance, supervision and cueing for health-related tasks under directions of Qualified Professional or person’s physician.

  • Mobility: moving from one place to another including wheelchair, getting in and out of bed or a chair

  • Transfers: moving from one seat/reclining position to another

  • Light Housekeeping: task related to personal care including: washing dishes, putting dishes in dishwasher, clear tables, take out garbage, make bed, clean bathroom.

  • Positioning: moving a person’s body for necessary care and comfort to relieve pressure areas.
