JOB SUMMARY



The SYGMA Logistics Supervisor has direct oversight of all inbound logistical functions executed within the SYGMA central office. This position supervises Logistics Planners and Backhaul Planners. A substantial part of the day is spent on key entry. Minimal travel may be required by air and personal vehicle




RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Supervise all planning activities associated with an annualized freight spend of roughly $60,000,000 executed within SYGMA's AS 400 and SYSCO's TMS Manhattan system.

  • Supervise backhaul planning regions to drive revenue, reduce cost, and onboard profitable freight programs.

  • Maintain direct oversight of expedited freight activities within the network while keeping a balance of both cost and service.

  • Perform direct oversight of SYGMA backhaul/line-haul activities controlled at the central office.

  • Work with SYGMA inventory control to resolve service concerns related to centralized freight.

  • Continuously analyze inbound freight network for conversion opportunities via SYGMA's fleet

  • Run system reports and publish both weekly and monthly metrics to track financials associated with centralized freight activities.

  • Manage all customer-generated freight RFP's (Request for Proposal) for potential growth.

  • Identify and reach out to outside the network shippers for opportunities to reduce total empty miles.

  • Provide for centrally planned DC's (distribution center).

  • Develop managed associates abilities through the SYSCO CMP (congestion management process).

  • Complete projects as assigned by the Manager, Backhaul Planning.




QUALIFICATIONS


Education



  • High School diploma is required

  • Four-year degree with a specialization in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management and Logistics or related field is preferred




Experience



  • 5 years' experience in the foodservice logistics field is required

  • 2-3 years of experience in supply chain, logistics or operations

  • 2 years of supervisory experience




Professional Skills



  • Strong analytical and reasoning ability

  • Strong mathematical ability

  • Well- developed oral and written communication skills; must be able to communicate clearly with employees and outside business contacts

  • Must have a good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office package with intermediate Excel skills

  • Must be able to read at distances close to the eyes, with or without correction
