This role is responsible for the design, security and operation of all macOS computers and software licensing on all Emerson campuses for employees, faculty, and students. It will ensure that all macOS endpoint computers on campus are fully functional, and work with and through the Tier 2 and Tier 1 support entities to maintain maximum uptime and resolve all critical issues

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the support, maintenance, and replacement of all macOS endpoints on all Emerson campuses via endpoint management software. Ensure that all software is configured, licensed, deployed, and updated within the required timeframes for the specificity of the academic cycle. Develop and manage an OS and software lifecycle for administrative endpoints.

  • Develop, manage, and maintain all software license servers and cloud software platforms, in coordination with Mobile Device Administrator. Work with the Assistant Director of User Services to ensure software is purchased and licensed to meet campus needs.

  • Resolve Tier 3 support requests received via phone, walk-in, email, and online form. Communicate directly with Tier 1 and Tier 2 support staff to help diagnose, troubleshoot and repair College-owned macOS computer equipment. Utilize a variety of tools to prioritize and track assignments, including our service desk software for support requests (Zendesk), our project management tracking tool (Asana), and our chat service for internal departmental support (Slack).

  • Direct the technical staff from both the Los Angeles and Kasteel Well Netherlands campuses regarding needs for their lab and classroom spaces, and oversee the imaging and deployment of staff and faculty endpoints.

  • Work with Faculty and Staff to understand and assess their academic and administrative technology needs, and suggest and implement solutions. Provide high-level, quality interactions with campus technical staff in these regards. Key areas include: the digital production labs, the newsroom, the library, Equipment Distribution Center, and the User Services Center.

  • Work with MTP, User Services leadership, and external vendors to assemble the classroom and computer lab annual capital budget, software capital budget, and standards for macOS endpoints on supplier catalogs for staff, faculty, and Tech Refresh.

  • Assist with maintaining guides on the website for how to use classroom and computer lab equipment, including printers and scanners, as well as information on available resources and policies.

  • Work with Assistant Directors of User Services and Tier 2 support staff to coordinate the setup and installation of existing and new spaces, including working with architects, vendors, and Facilities Management to maintain quality control, as well as the deployment of staff and faculty endpoint devices

  • Assist with pulling metrics from Zendesk, Pharos, and LabStats, and developing reports to identify and analyze patterns and trends of systems and services. Gather metrics, surveys, and interviews from our clients and stakeholders.

  • Participate in new student, faculty, and staff orientations and semester starts.

  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Your Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.

  • 5 to 7 years of experience as a desktop support technician or equivalent in a medium- to large-scale environment (500+ endpoints)

  • 3 to 5 years of experience administering systems that support endpoint computing (endpoint management, servers, cloud software licensing, etc.)

  • Strong knowledge of macOS and file systems, scripting, and networking

  • Expertise in administering Jamf, including policy and profile creation

  • Experience in administration and deployment of key endpoint technologies (Adobe, Microsoft Office, endpoint security)

  • Strong written, interpersonal, and verbal communication and customer service skills

  • Advanced hardware and software troubleshooting skills

  • Experience with asset management and ticketing platforms

You'll be preferred if you have:

  • Experience in the field of higher education endpoint support

  • Knowledge of capital budgeting and equipment lifecycle

  • Interest in learning, problem solving, and new technologies

Grade of Position: A17E

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25

Salary: $75,100.00

This position will be exclusively represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 888 for purposes of wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment
