About the role

As Cochlear continues to grow and service our customers, we are recruiting for a Reimbursement Billing & Collections Refund Specialist in Lone Tree, CO. This role offers a remote work environment.

In alignment with our organizational principle of providing a safe work environment, employees of Cochlear are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. To be successful in this role, you’ll be able to accurately and efficiently resolve self-pay and insurance credit card balances. You will research credit balances in BrightTree and Oracle to determine whether overpayment occurred and initiate the refund process accordingly, outlining the reason for the refund while including explanation of benefits and invoice correspondence. This role will handle payer refund requests including validating the refund following review of the account history and submission of a refund request. You’ll work collaboratively with Reimbursement team members to research accounts and validate self-pay and insurance refunds.

Key Requirements

  • 3-4+ years of experience in healthcare reimbursement

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to research and resolve issues

  • Must be able to work independently, prioritize, and have excellent customer service skills as well as verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented with a track record for being able to multi-task

  • Assist internal customers in a professional and diplomatic manner

  • Ability to learn at a fast pace in a dynamic environment

  • Process a high volume of work with a strong work-ethic

  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with internal business partners

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office


  • Experience in Refund analysis & Cash posting

  • Durable Medical Equipment (DME) experience highly desired
