The AWS Energy Procurement team is looking for a world-class candidate to originate, evaluate, and deliver power solutions that combine renewable energy with storage solutions. If you are a creative, smart and driven individual that enjoys working with complex problems we want YOU!

At Amazon you will be responsible for working on multi-million-dollar projects to decarbonize our energy footprint and power our business growth.

In this role, you will originate energy project investment opportunities, negotiate and execute power supply contracts across AWS regions in the US. You will develop portfolios of Solar, Wind, Fuel Cell, Hydrogen and Battery Storage project and associated distribution/transmission and grid interconnection facilities.

You will bring expertise in energy project development, power generation technologies and market operations. You will identify key energy market conditions, regulations, and commercial structures to help evaluate potential opportunities. The ideal candidate will have a results-orientated approach, analytical skill set, and strong financial acumen.

Key job responsibilities
  • Support the development and execution of a comprehensive energy and utilities strategy for AWS data centers
  • Develop portfolios of Solar, Wind, Fuel Cell, Hydrogen and Battery Storage project and associated distribution/transmission and grid interconnection facilities.
  • Execute electricity supply contracts that reduce cost, minimize risk and leverage opportunities that benefit Amazon
  • Analyze trends and regulations in the energy space to proactively identify opportunities that benefit Amazon
  • Manage energy projects against plans and objectives to ensure commitments are met, delivering against cost savings goals
  • Be a passionate self-starter
  • Bachelor\'s Degree (BA/BS) required- Economics/Engineering/Business
  • 5+ years of experience working in utility/energy industry
  • 3+ years of power transaction, power generation, transmission, storage or contracting experience in US or international energy markets
  • 8+ years of experience in energy markets, energy trading, power contract negotiations, energy regulations, renewable development, or energy generation, transmission and storage technologies
  • Proven ability to evaluate new energy markets, utility tariffs, policies, power contracts, or evaluating new energy sourcing opportunities and technologies
  • Familiarity with environmental attribute programs, power project development, power forecasting and scheduling, portfolio management, advanced energy storage, or alternative energy resources
  • Experience building relationships and working with industry stakeholders, such as utilities, regional power planning agencies, renewable project developers, project investors, and renewable OEMs
  • The ability to manage and prioritize multiple simultaneous projects with minimal direction
  • Excellent speaking-listening-writing skills and attention to details
  • Proven track record for cultivating strong relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors (IPPs, utilities, developers, OEMs), or customers
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon\'s leadership principles requirements for this role
