Job Summary: The Group Teacher supervises the planning and execution of a program to provide day care for children of ages 3-5 years old. The Group Teacher will take responsibility for keeping the classroom environment including materials and equipment in good condition and will remove damaged/hazardous material. The Teacher will develop a program of sound educational goals appropriate to age and developmental level. The group teacher will assume responsibility for planning and conducting regular group conferences with classroom associates.

Essential Functions:

● Responsible for meeting with parents annually to discuss student progress

● Works within the framework of the sponsoring agency

● Supervises a given group of children in all activities; including trips and outings. ● Promotes the professional growth of classroom association by sharing mutual knowledge in the day care setting

● Promotes sound parent relationships by attending and participating in group parent meetings ● Maintains objectives staff relationships

● Conducts regular group conferences based on daily observation of associates performance ● Share records with staff members when appropriate and in line with compliance standards ● Responsible for weekly progress reports

● Implements effective program curriculum

● Completes assessments related to curriculum (i.e. progress of the children)

● Completes all administrative responsibilities in a timely manner.

● Develops a sound program that meets educational goals

● Uses community resources to enrich educational content

● Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • The 3k Group Teacher must of at least ONE of the following:
  • Baccalaureate degree and NYS Teaching Certification
  • A bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field of study and a current certification in the early childhood grades.
  • A bachelor’s degree in ECE or related field of study and two years of supervised experience in an ECE program
  • Approved study plan -To be eligible for a study plan, a person must have:
  • An associate’s degree in ECE, practicum included; or
  • Ninety or more undergraduate college credits and one year of classroom experience teaching children up to third grade.
  • A bachelor’s degree in any other academic subject and one year of classroom experience teaching children up to third grade.
  • A person who is study plan-eligible must submit proof of college enrollment
  • Completed or in the process of obtaining the Child Development Associate (CDA)
  • First Aid and CPR trainings required and re-certified as needed
Shift: 8am-4pm

Salary: 34-70k depending on credentials
