Location: San Antonio, Texas

The Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for the company’s sales/use tax filings and assist third party provider with personal property tax filings. Reporting to Accounting Manager, this individual will work closely with the Real Estate, Account Payables and external tax providers.


Experience and Education

· Minimum 4 year / Bachelor’s degree in tax, accounting or related discipline required.

· 5+ years of progressive experience in a corporate tax department or a public accounting firm.

· Multi-unit, multi-state background desired.

· Strong system aptitude and proficiency, including advanced Excel skills.

· Previous experience working with a geographically dispersed team in a high volume, fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

· Manage the filings of sales/use tax returns in all jurisdictions in which the company operates.

· Regularly research taxability and timely update the tax matrix on purchases to ensure the accuracy and completeness.

· Implement internal control measures to improve the compliance with state/local sales use tax regulations.

· Provide fixed asset data and answer questions from the third-party tax providers in the preparation and filing of personal property tax returns.

· Collaborate multiple business teams to provide data to the third-party provider in the preparation and filing of the federal, state, local tax returns.

· Lead tax audits related to sales/use taxes and personal property taxes.

· Participate in month end close to prepare/review journal entries, perform balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis.

· Monitor tax technical developments and make informed recommendations to optimize the company’s tax strategies.

· Organize and maintain updated accounting procedures respective to assigned tasks.

· Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned by supervisor.
