Job Duties:

The UCLA JCCC Events & Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives (JEDI) Manager), is responsible for overseeing, managing and coordinating all Cancer Center events and key JEDI initiatives. In this role you will work as a partner of Cancer Center leadership, including the Director, Chief Administrative Officer, Faculty Director for JEDI and others, to ensure the Center meets and exceeds the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) guidelines through strategic planning and coordination of programmatic events and activities and the Center\'s JEDI initiatives. You will also work closely and liaises with institutional offices and leaders, including the DGSOM Dean\'s JEDI Office, to provide reporting and collaboration on institution-wide initiatives.

As Manager you will provide guidance and coordination for project phases from initiation to closure, and works closely with project/initiative leads to strategically plan, provide assessment of potential challenges, and ensure programming/projects/initiatives adhere to Center, university and NCI guidelines and policies.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: maintaining thorough understanding of NCI CCSG guidelines and developing and implementing strategies to meet/exceed them; developing and analyzing various datasets, utilizing them to set benchmarks and goals and to make recommendations to Center senior leaders; strategically planning, coordinating and documenting all Cancer Center programmatic activities, including retreats, symposia, seminars, programmatic meetings, etc.; in collaboration with the Cancer Center\'s faculty Director for JEDI, strategically planning, coordinating, documenting and reporting on all JEDI initiatives and programmatic activities; developing and managing budgets for all initiatives ensuring responsible utilization of resources; drafting and maintaining UCLA JCCC policies and guidelines in relation to events and JEDI initiatives; contributing to and supporting the drafting of the Plan to Enhance Diversity CCSG write-ups and presentations; supervising the Events Assistant and Receptionist; etc.

In the role you will balance priorities, have a strong sense of urgency, be a team player, and use creativity to identify and implement ways to further UCLA JCCC events and JEDI activities in a manner that meets/exceeds NCI expectations. Reliability, independence, and initiative are essential.

Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s Degree and a minimum of two years\' experience with program coordination, project management, administrative support, and/or other similar type roles.
  • Ability to bring together diverse stakeholders and personalities, present a vision, gain buy-in, and then facilitate successful collaboration between all involved.
  • Ability to independently prioritize and organize projects through multiple phases. Ability to meet deadlines and follow through on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously with careful attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to lift and move boxes and other materials utilizing dollies, etc. (
50 lbs). * Ability to resolve minor problems and develop and present solutions to the supervisor to address major problems.
  • Ability to working as a part of a team and ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with senior leaders, administrators, faculty, staff, students, and others.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to identify and define issues and alternatives, to resolve problems, and to draw sound conclusions where none have existed. Ability to make recommendations for improvements and implement them.
  • Demonstrated English writing skills to produce original correspondence, reports, and other documents including grant write-ups, utilizing correct spelling, grammar, syntax, and punctuation.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio,
etc.). Ability to quickly master new database systems, survey tools, and other software systems and
tools. * Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral), specifically as it relates to communicating to a variety of internal and external stakeholders about diversity, equity and inclusion. Comfortable presenting to large, diverse audiences.
