We are looking for a Hydrogen & Grid Transition Leader to join our West Coast offices. We are looking for someone who will be focused on the changing energy system and the emergence of new energy technologies and regulations, including hydrogen integration, grid congestion, short and long duration energy storage, grid reliability modernization, and intermittency of production on the Pacific coast.

Our team specializes in helping clients realize the clean energy transition as an integrated system. The team includes electrical, mechanical, and environmental science staff. This new role will be allocated full time to the California clean energy transition - with focus on hydrogen & clean energy storage - a focused contribution in a core theme aligned to Arup\'s vision.


Help us pursue projects that include grid modernization planning and implementation, microgrid and storage development for critical energy users (across EWR, property, SIT, and transport portfolios), and strategic policy and programmatic engagement that solidifies Arup’s position at the forefront of the clean energy transition and climate services.

Lead select commissions, contribute technical rigor to and cross-link best practice on a breadth of projects, and win large and strategic energy commissions in support of the Arup Strategy and Global Energy Step Change.


Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

Professional certifications should include one or more of the following: PE, CEM.

Minimum of 20 years in the California energy system,

Deep knowledge of the energy transition – with a focus on the California market, the single largest in the United States – including, grid reliability, decarbonization, hydrogen scaling, storage, and offshore wind.

Experience with business development activities.
