Qualified external applicants with at least six months of direct experience eligible for up to a $20,000 sign-on bonus! The bonus will be taxed per IRS regulations. Additional relocation bonus may apply based on geographical location. Must be hired into a full-time or part-time position; PRN positions are not eligible. Some exclusions may apply.

Schedule: Full time-Days- 40hrs/ week- M-F Variable per surgical volume.

Call required- in rotation with Team to be on call for CJR trauma cases.

Typically 6-9 days of call per month- includes weekends.

30 Min Call Back radius required.

Pay Range

$38.72 - $61.47 / hour

Participate and actively assist the surgeon in the performance of surgical procedures. Provides aid in exposure,hemostasis and other technical functions to assist surgeon to perform a safe operation with optimal results to patient.

Day to Day Duties : Act as a Surgical First Assistant on total joint replacement surgeries for Hips and Knees. (SAs only work CJR cases). Work closely with the surgeon in a hands-on capacity, helping the surgeon by handling vital tasks such as prepping the patient for surgery, providing suturing, clamping, removing scar tissue and positioning patients during surgery to ensure a safe operation. Handing instruments to surgeons, anticipating surgeon’s needs. Maintaining and updating preference cards. Perform preoperative and post operative care as directed by surgeon to facilitate proper patient care.

4 OR suites (CJR only uses 4 out of the 21 at Porter)

Approx. 175 cases per month between the 4 surgeons.

What You Bring/Job Requirements

In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:
  • Three years operating room experience in Orthopedics required
  • Experience with Total Knee/Hip replacements highly preferred
  • General knowledge of asepsis, healing, infectious disease process, surgical
anatomy and physiology, safety issues and operative techniques * Graduate from an accredited Surgical Assistant program required
  • Certified as a one of the following: Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) by NBSTSA; Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) by NSAA; Surgical Assistant–Certified (SAC) by ABSA
  • Registered through DORA as a Colorado Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist License upon hire unless performing Surgical Assistant duties within the scope of another active Colorado license, certification, or registration (required for Colorado
employed staff only) * BLS from the American Heart Association required

Physical Requirements - Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)
