DESCRIPTION:

The Building Maintenance Technician performs preventative maintenance work as needed/assigned in order to help us carry out our mission to enhance the lives of our residents. The ideal Building Maintenance Technician candidate has a one-year trade school or other construction or maintenance trade certification. Candidates must be well rounded in the areas of carpentry, plumbing, and painting.

BUILDING MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs preventative maintenance on assigned section of the campus
  • Performs repairs to building, fixtures, furniture, appliances, heat and a/c system, plumbing and small electrical apparatuses and/or switches and outlets in the designated area
  • Responsible for the completion of all maintenance work orders as assigned
  • Assist in monitoring all work being performed by outside contractors
  • Responsible for alerting the Maintenance Manager of any unusual occurrence and/or damage that has taken place
  • Provides after hours on-call maintenance as scheduled. Provides weekend maintenance service as scheduled
  • Maintains all tools and work equipment in clean, orderly and operational condition
  • Works cooperatively with other staff members using a team approach
  • Practices safety at all times; applies all accident, fire safety or emergency procedures in compliance with Epworth Villa Safety Policies and Procedures
  • May be required to assist in snow removal from walks
  • This job requires exerting 50 pounds of force frequently and 25 to 50 pounds of force regularly
  • Performs other duties as assigned
BUILDING MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Experience with carpentry, plumbing and painting required
  • Fluent English speaking/writing communication skills
  • Must be able to maintain general sanitary/safety practices
  • Must be able to meet objectives with minimum supervision
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
  • Valid driver\'s license
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification
