As a Materials Handler II, you will support the receiving dock at Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus. Under the supervision of the Supervisor and Work Leader, you will deliver products using an automated Guide Vehicle (AGV) system, receive/reconcile items at the receiving dock, unload trailers, complete daily shipping tasks and operate equipment such as forklifts, walkie riders and pallet jacks. Your shift will be Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM or until the work is done.

- Has at least one year of experience working on a receiving dock and operating equipment including forklifts, walkie riders and pallet jacks.
- Demonstrates a strong work ethic.

- Is efficient, organized and reliable.
- Has excellent communication skills.

Job Details

Shift: Monday - Friday 6AM - 2:30PM or until the work is complete

Responsibilities:
  • Monitors the flow of traffic into dock areas, prioritizing deliveries to ensure the safe receipt of goods and supplies.
  • Operates equipment including forklift, walkie rider, pallet jack, etc.
  • Unloads freight, supplies, packages, and perishable items from dock facilities using materials handling equipment.
  • Verifies accuracy of shipments, checks for damage to goods and documents variances of orders, resolves incomplete deliveries and other related problems with purchasing and accounting.
  • Prepares goods and supplies for distribution, prioritizing deliveries, sorting and labeling loads ensuring the safe, correct and timely delivery of orders.
  • Properly packs and determines method of shipment to assure timely delivery of goods for outbound shipments.
  • Receives storeroom stock items from shipping and receiving area; unpacks and inspects items for damage; verifies accuracy of shipment and inputs information in the warehouse management system..
  • Performs physical count of stock for inventory control verification and rotates stock to minimize loss of materials.
  • Responds to inquiries related to materials in stock, ordering procedures, status of item, resolves discrepancies or requisitions or filled orders.
  • Maintains cleanliness of storeroom area; collects pallets from area and stacks for pick up.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education:
  • Basic knowledge of mathematics sufficient to add and subtract as required to maintain accurate logs.
  • Knowledge of computer systems including bar code readers, handheld computers, and printers.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Certifications:
  • Must pass the Service Center certification training program for the operation of material handling power equipment and maintain the certification through periodic reviews.
  • This certification must be obtained during the 90 day new hire period.
Work Experience:
  • One year of experience, preferably in a warehouse, manufacturing, or assembly environment.
  • Ability to read, write, speak English and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to operate materials handling equipment.
  • Must be self-motivated and be willing to work at a rapid pace.
  • Must be able to use touchscreen computers.
Physical Requirements:
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting items that weigh up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires the ability to push a fully loaded cart weighing up to 500 pounds, and pull a 2500 pound pallet using a manual pallet jack.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Lifts and carries.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to within normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
