Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and technically skilled Utilities Lead specializing in relocations, demolition, and earthworks to support a major airport infrastructure project. This role focuses on the planning, coordination, and execution of utility relocations, demolition activities, and earthworks in compliance with stringent airport operational requirements and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of hands-on experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, particularly in airport or similar high-security environments, with a deep understanding of utility management and civil construction disciplines.

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and technically skilled Utilities Lead specializing in relocations, demolition, and earthworks to support a major airport infrastructure project. This role focuses on the planning, coordination, and execution of utility relocations, demolition activities, and earthworks in compliance with stringent airport operational requirements and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of hands-on experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, particularly in airport or similar high-security environments, with a deep understanding of utility management and civil construction disciplines.
What You’ll Be Doing
Utilities Relocations & Demolition Management:
- Lead and manage all aspects of utility relocations including water, sewer, electrical, telecommunications, and gas lines to ensure uninterrupted airport operations.
- Oversee demolition works of existing structures and utilities, ensuring safe and environmentally compliant practices.
- Develop and implement detailed work plans and schedules coordinating with design teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Ensure all relocation and demolition activities comply with project specifications, airport safety regulations, and environmental standards.
- Supervise earthworks activities including excavation, grading, trenching, backfilling, and compaction to meet project design and geotechnical requirements.
- Collaborate closely with geotechnical engineers, surveyors, and civil contractors to ensure precision and safety during earthworks execution.
- Monitor quality control, site safety, and progress reporting for all earthworks-related tasks.
- Coordinate with multiple disciplines including civil, structural, electrical, and MEP teams to ensure seamless integration of utility works within the broader infrastructure project.
- Lead interface meetings with airport authorities, utility providers, contractors, and consultants to resolve conflicts and optimize sequencing.
- Prepare and manage technical documentation such as method statements, risk assessments, work permits, and progress reports.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant local and international codes, airport operational guidelines, and environmental regulations.
- Promote strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, particularly for working in live airport environments and airside zones.
- Conduct regular safety audits, toolbox talks, and risk assessments related to utilities, demolition, and earthworks operations.
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of engineers, supervisors, and site personnel involved in utilities relocations, demolition, and earthworks.
- Act as the primary point of contact for client representatives, regulatory authorities, and contractors regarding utilities-related works.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and quality.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience managing utilities relocations, demolition, and earthworks in large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably airport or high-security environments.
- Proven experience in coordinating complex multidisciplinary works involving underground utilities and demolition in operational environments.
- In-depth knowledge of utility networks (water, sewer, electrical, gas, telecom) and their relocation methodologies.
- Strong expertise in demolition techniques and earthworks processes with a focus on safety and environmental compliance.
- Familiarity with airport operational requirements, security protocols, and live environment constraints.
- Proficient in project management tools, site documentation, and quality control systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP) or Construction Safety (e.g., NEBOSH).
- Experience with BIM and digital construction management tools for utilities coordination.
- Knowledge of environmental permitting and sustainability practices related to demolition and earthworks.
- Prior exposure to international airport infrastructure projects and regulatory bodies.
