Requirements

Candidates should have the right flare and ability that will help us develop and expand our tunnelling capability. We want to build on the existing portfolio of our rapidly expanding, flexible and outward looking team that can tackle work across a broad spectrum of sectors.

We are looking for bright and enthusiastic engineers at all levels, from Senior Engineer to Technical Director level. The successful applicants will have a proven technical and project management track record.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the Tunnelling team for major rail, highway, maritime, energy, water projects.
  • Leading the Tunnelling team for strategic bids.
  • Developing your own network of business contacts to contribute to the growth of the Tunnelling disciplines.
  • Representing Atkins at industry events.
  • Integrating the team to our technical discipline and market leads.
  • Mentoring of early career team members.
  • Managing, motivating, mentoring and developing professional staff.
  • Developing and then overseeing initiatives.

Candidates Should Have

  • Experience in one or more of the following sectors: highways, rail, energy, infrastructure
  • A strong academic background with a relevant degree (ideally MSc or equivalent).
  • Chartered status in civil or structural engineering (is a requirement).
  • Excellent interpersonal and technical skills and the ability to develop and lead tunnelling design teams.
  • Proven experience in a fast-moving engineering consultancy environment.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in supervision of NATM/TBM tunnelling projects.
  • Must hold a recognised civil engineering degree.
  • Should have worked in both urban and mountainous region tunnelling works.
  • Should have expertise in blasting, mechanical excavation, shot creting, rock bolting as well as activities related to primary and final tunnel supports.
