Job Summary:
The Traffic Signal Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of traffic signal systems, controllers, and related infrastructure. This role ensures the efficient operation of traffic signals to promote road safety and smooth traffic flow. The technician must respond promptly to faults and emergencies, ensuring minimal disruption to public roadways.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation & Setup: Install and configure traffic signal systems, controllers, wiring, and supporting hardware per engineering designs and applicable standards.
- Maintenance & Repairs: Conduct routine maintenance on traffic signals, detection devices, and control cabinets. Diagnose and repair electrical/mechanical faults quickly and efficiently.
- Testing & Calibration: Test, troubleshoot, and calibrate signal components to ensure reliable and compliant performance.
- Troubleshooting: Respond to and resolve electrical or mechanical malfunctions to restore signal operations with minimal delay.
- Inspection & Quality Control: Perform site inspections and evaluate equipment to ensure compliance with local and international standards.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed logs of maintenance activities, repairs, parts used, and work performed. Prepare reports on system performance and incidents.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and municipal authorities to support traffic signal projects and upgrades.
- Compliance with Regulations: Follow all traffic safety, electrical codes, and occupational safety standards, including Aramco and local authority requirements.
- Emergency Response: Be available for on-call response to emergency repairs or signal outages, ensuring swift restoration of service.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Minimum: Diploma in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a relevant technical field.
- Preferred: Additional certifications in traffic signal systems or electrical systems.
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in traffic signal maintenance, construction, and cabinet troubleshooting.
- Strong background in electrical systems and traffic control equipment.
Saudi Aramco-Specific Requirements:
- The technician must possess a valid Saudi Aramco Work Permit Receiver (WPR) Certification Card, or must obtain it within 90 calendar days from the contract’s effective date.
- Should know driving and have a valid driving license (preferable).
- Must be able to pass the Aramco Work Permit Receiver Exam.
- Experience with Saudi Aramco site requirements, procedures, and safety standards is a plus.
Skills Required:
- Excellent understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Familiarity with traffic signal technology, including controllers, sensors, and detectors.
- Knowledge of traffic control devices, traffic flow regulations, and road safety standards.
- Ability to use tools and testing equipment for signal installation and repairs.
- Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team in the field.
- Effective communication and documentation abilities.
